Larian Studios Forums Divinity - Original Sin Divinity - Original Sin - General Zandalor's Trunks - do I need to wear them?

I would think this has been asked before but after poking around here and elsewhere, I'm not seeing a clear answer anyway, so I'm just going to ask - do I need to be wearing Zandalor's Trunks in order for them to work, or is just having them in my inventory good enough?

And while we're at it, what exactly do they do besides mouth off every now and then? I have better equipment I could be wearing, but I'd hate to miss out on something cool.

You need to wear them as far as I'm aware and they are a simple cosmetic item with the twist that they mouth off at you.

The talking underwear is actually a very reserved and mild-mannered sort of garment; but when you subject it to the ultimate insult by forcing it into constant contact with your genitals, it has no alternative but to verbally retaliate. Alas, that is the only avenue of revenge it has.

The trunks were pretty poorly implemented, in my opinion. It's supposed to be a fun little item that will comment on your adventures throughout the game. However, it uses the same slot as the belt and obviously players are going to want to put a *stat* item in that slot, which means it's unlikely anyone will have those trunks on for very long.

Yep, agreed. It felt tacked on.

Can't complain too much - it's free stuff, after all - but it does seem a little bit of a throwaway. I'd be happy enough to dedicate an equipment slot to it if its quotes were more varied and/or useful, but it just repeats the same two or three lines every time. Without some incentive to keep them on, a late-game easter egg or something, I think they're going to end up in a drawer.

Same, they got quickly replaced.
And while they had some nice comments... the "steal stuff" line got REALLY overused fast. Of course I was a kleptomaniac... but still...
