Hello all. I've been searching for this for the last hour and I can't seem to find an answer. It's quite possible that I don't know the exact words to use when searching. My issue is:

I'm a hoarder. I've got tons of spell scrolls and things to sell / craft / admire that I need to keep in storage. When looting, you have the option to "loot all" with the button on the container or the space bar (default button). But, is there a way to quick store items?

I imagine it would be:

1. Open container (and just one container).
2. Open character inventory.
3. Hold *insert button here* and click on an item to quickly store the item in the container.
4. Grab a sandwich because you just saved yourself 10 minutes of dragging items.

As item 4 says, this is all about saving time. After each excursion, I feel like I'm having to spend 5 to 10 minutes simply unloading loot that I've obtained. Mind you, I'm not storing everything I've ever picked up. I'm storing thing like:

- Legendary Items
- Crafting Items (for when I need them)
- Spell Scrolls
- Potions
- Books / Parchments (I can probably get rid of these after I know the quest / use for the item is done)
- Arrows (can never have enough of these)

For most people, I'm sure you can see yourselves holding onto at least one of these categories of items. So, does this exist?! I've tried ALT + click, SHIFT + click, CTRL + click and nothing.

If it doesn't exist, Larian, please implement this!

Thanks.

That doesn't exist, but it's not a bad idea.

I do agree that it needs a fix of some sort. I can see one problem with the proposed solution - if you have several backpacks open the game will need to somehow know which container to move the item to.

Maybe CTRL click to mark multiples like in windows, allowing you to click the items and drag just once would be a workable solution?

In regards to usability - if you put your crafting tools (hammer, etc) in a bag you can open that bag and then change inventory tab to Ingredients. That way you can hoard all ingredients straight in the inventory and still do crafting easily.

In regards to items you keep simply because of your hoarding tendencies - right click and send to Homestead puts them in your Homestead chest for safekeeping.

The simplest solution when there are multiple containers open would be to use the most recently active window.

Perhaps Shift / Alt / Ctrl clicking (or something) could send to different containers based on the position of the window (Shift sends to the most recently active window in the top third of the screen, Ctrl on the left half of the screen and Alt the right [or vise versa for left handed configurations]). Perhaps that might not be the most intuitive implementation possible.

If a drop down box was added to container windows, you could set a specific container to receive items sent using certain click modifiers. I don't know how feasible that is, though.

Having a drop-down box would be OK, but I see one glaring issue with that:

Send to Chest
Send to Chest
Send to Barrel
Send to Barrel

Which chest? Which barrel? If you have multiple containers open at once--with the same name--it makes it impossible to know which container you are intending as the recipient of the selected items.

However, I do have a possible solution (and one I think other users might like as well). What if we could rename containers? Instead of just "Backpack", we could rename it to "Crafting Supplies" or "Arrows". Then, if you have multiple open, it becomes easy to figure out the correct one.

Here's another option--still using the renaming of containers--that may work without having the drop-down menus.

1. Open inventory.
2. Open containers (let's say 3 backpacks renamed "Scrolls", "Arrows", and "Stuff to Sell").
3. CTRL + Click on the items to select multiple in the inventory. Let's say scrolls go first.
4. Right click and choose the container name from the menu. See example menu below.

Use (grayed out--you can't use multiple items at once)
--------------
Send to Roderick
Send to Jahan
Send to Madora
Send to Homestead
--------------
Send to Scrolls
Send to Arrows
Send to Stuff to Sell
--------------
Drop Item
Destroy Item

Now, you can build the menu based on the open containers and current party members (and, if you've found the Homestead yet).

Of course, a few things would have to happen at this point:

1. Check if like items--that can stack--already exist. If so, stack them.
2. Check the remaining available space. If enough spaces exist, put all the remaining items in the container.
3. If not enough space exists at this point, notify the user "Cannot move remaining items into container".

I'm sure a few other checks would need to be made
Tenebrium, for example, would need to check if you have the skill or not and would apply rot if you don't. Another is a strength check to see if one person is shoving items in another character's container (within the other character's inventory).
.

It's a bit complicated, I know. I'm a programmer, though, so I understand that it may not be completely feasible depending on what's in place right now.

They (renaming containers / quick moving items) would be a great addition to inventory management. wink

And, as just a last thought, what about a sort option (like for the character's inventory) for containers as well? Maybe I just hoard too much... I need help. smile

I've been thinking about this a little more.

The menu could also see all available containers on your person (whomever holds the container with the items to move). This way, you don't actually have to open the containers of that person to put stuff in their containers. It could look something like:

Use (grayed out--you can't use multiple items at once)
--------------
Send to Scrolls (held by the person with the items to move)
Send to Arrows (held by the person with the items to move)
--------------
Send to Roderick
Send to Jahan
Send to Madora
Send to Homestead
--------------
Send to Stuff to Sell (open container--not held by this person)
--------------
Drop Items (you probably would want this grayed out as well)
Destroy Items (and even more so on this one--being grayed out, that is)

So, it follows this pattern:

Use (grayed out)
--------------
Containers on person
--------------
Party member or homestead
--------------
Open containers (not held by this person)
--------------
Drop Items (grayed out)
Destroy Items (grayed out)
