Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems problem with crashing through loading

alright, here's the deal:

i cracked the game because i didn't want to use the cd anymore. when i finished the part after gathering all 7 council members, i had to do the ritual thing, well after that was finished, the screen went black and just stayed there. well i read on the forums that it was due to the computer couldn't read the disk cause it wasn't in the drive and that i would need to reinstall and not crack it. well i did that, but now when i load my old save files, it crashes right when it's about to finished loading the save file. please help, this is the second time i've started DD and i'm level 37. both times abotu this level.. i konw you can get higher, but i'm tired of getting only partly through the game and then something with the game screwing up.. PLEASE HELP!!

Did you backup your saved games onto CD-R? If so, browse to the saved game folder in Explorer, select all of the files, right click and clear the read-only attribute (the box should be clear, with no black or greyed out checkmark).
Also, make sure you have installed the latest patch if your games were saved under that version.
