Hello,

I noticed that some villagers of Verdistis are marked in red (enemy)on my minimap. when i want to speak to them, i automatically attack an kill them.
I also noticed i lost quite some reputation. I am wondering weather all this is due to freeing penumbra or becoming member of the thieves guild; since those are the quests i solved just before noticing.

Does anyone know?

Joining the thieves guild does cause a slight loss in reputation. Have you murdered anyone, and did they call the guards? Did you kill them? What is your reputation?

hello,

i killed three of them, but they did not call for the guards.
my current reputation is 27, i thougt i had 34 before, but it has been a while i checked, so i could have lost some reputation elsewhere.

but does joining the thieves guild cause some villagers to appear as enemies?
has it got any further consequences or intentions??

tx for reacting so fast

Have you installed the latest patch? If so, was this before or after starting the game? There are friendly thieves in the Verdistis sewers in games started before the latest patch. If you did not notice they were green on the mini map and attacked, it could drop your reputation enough that people become hostile (they were removed in the latest patch to prevent this).

Are most people annoyed, and some hostile, or is it normal and hostile? Your reputation drops by 2 on joining the thieves' guild, but they would have to already be annoyed for that to turn them hostile. Are the hostile NPCs all around a single location, or spread out?

Hello,

i recall installing a patch about half a year ago and after starting the game.
the citizens marked in red are spread out over verdistis and even rivertown market. haven't been anywhere else.

then you're in trouble. Are you sure, you meant the thieves? They were friendly at first!

Did you mistake them for assassins? Sometimes these groups mix up and maybe you killed one thief accidently and all turned hostile afterwards?

You weren't supposed to kill them and IIRC in 1.0034 there were no thieves in the sewers anymore

Well, in any case, your reploss is due to killing innocents = > thieves in the sewers.

The thieves in Verdistis never became my enemies and since I am a survivor, I wanted to join the Thieve's guild... How about Jonas' necklace, if you helped the other guy instead of Jonas, then I think this could be it, because I've experienced this. Good thing games could be saved and reloaded, so I helped out Jonas instead and everything went better(although Jonas is all the way back in the poor area and not in Verdistis). Or have you thought about Maria? Try to help her out as well.

I experimented both: Helping the thug Balin in the poor quarters and killing Maria - was only attacked by the guards she called for help. The soldiers entered her house but were green, I took care not to kill them (wasn't very easy in that crowd cluttering up her tiny room).

No further probs (rep.-loss, yes) but no multiple attack in Ars/Verdistis/poor quarters etc. Merchants still sold their stuff. Did this in 1.0034 version.

I only tested this, ok? It's not my game approach normally, just curiosity.

Hello folks,

its been a while. I haven't touched the game since my last reply on this subject. I now know where my reputation loss is due to. And i can reload a previously saved game. But what can i do to prevent the old problem (thieves in sewers becoming enemies) from happening again. Can i still install the latest patch at this stage?

Helping jonas and maria whas a bit of a problem as well to me. if i remember well, i had to get back into dr. elrath's house for the cure, but i can't.
I should do some inventory swapping trick first. is it necessairy to help jonas and maria? or am i messing quest up here. ah ok maria what the girl whoms reputation i restored at the merchants guild i think.

so, any recommandation to get playing again without too many trouble?

Kefas, in patch version 1.0034 there are NO thieves in the sewers, were taken out - please check.

Jonas: Nothing to do with the cure. But if you help him, you have to kill Balin, the guy wanting the necklace, that's all. => subquest

Maria: you get 2 quests -> one to kill her or to help her out of disgrace. I helped her. => subquest, but if you don't help her, you get no house in Verdistis. You can buy yourself the way into the merchant guild now by killing her and talking to Malcom, if you wish. (version 1.0034)

Cure and Elrath: you need the cure for the plagued in the quarantine section.

So, necessity is your choice

tx replying so fast, Kiya

I just noticed that i have been running v1.0034A all along.
how can this be? I think there were thieves in the sewers, but since it has been a while, i can't say i am 100% sure.

What i am sure of, is that thieves turned into enemies in the thieves guild cellar, when i was trying to win a bet to get some thieves treasure, for which i had to open (lockpick) 4 doors.

if i start replaying from a saved game. What can i do to prevent this from happening again?

That's very strange, Kefas. This bet does NOT turn thieves hostile. It's part of the game plot. Did you approach one with a weapon and sadly chose the attack sentence?
Kiya

If you wish, you can send me your save, I'll look into it. further procedure via PM, please.

IMPORTANT: I need to know this: Are all your saves version 1.0034?
