Does staff damage and for example 10% chance to stun affect spells? If it don't then only the ability/attribute bonus matters, the rest is completely useless and that should be changed asap...

The damage of the staff only affects the Staff of Magus spell.

Yeah, the only thing that matters, on a staff, is the bonuses.

So that's what that's for. I thought that spell was kind of useless.

It kinda is... I think it could do with a -1AP reduction... probably still rather useless though.

The damage output of Staff of Magus is not very good, but you can use it as a cheap way to trigger elemental combos, like setting poison on fire or unfreezing one of your chars.

Agreed. Staff of Magus should trigger the staff's effects. If your staff has a 10% chance to stun, it should trigger when you use the Staff of Magus skill.

It might actually do, but if the target has even 1 willpower, it's impossible to affect them.
Status effects on weapons are in the current situation; completely useless...

status effects DO trigger when you use the ranged attack of the staff.

it's just that one, they typically start off at very low level (like 10%) so you rarely even see the trigger happen, and two, even when it does trigger, it can still be resisted.

basically, if you really want an effect to be useful on a staff, it needs to trigger at least 20% of the time, preferably 30%.

really though, if you are playing your mage right, your staff is just a stat stick, and any status effects on it are just bonus.

I can think of only ONE time in the whole game where I actually needed to use my staff to kill something because it was immune to the elements I could cast as spells.

don't bother with staff combat unless you are using a mod that allows you to really buff them up a bit. right now, you can't even add tenebrium to them so they will always be very limited in damage output.

I'd love to see a mod that buffs up staffs a bit; you could play a monk-type character.

Wow, I thought that spell was just a waste of developmental resources. It actually has a use?

Learn something new every day. I thought all the staff damage bonuses was if you'd whop someone with the staff itself.

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?
