Hello !

so i am on the final fight against the void dragon and suddenly a cinematic appears and kicks me our of the combat ( the cinematic is like a void, and them a dos program executing and the all the screen loads with FAIL...and so on). It seems for me that it is a kind of eastern egg for ilegal copies....the problem is...

THAT MINE IS COMPLETELY LEGAL !! ( buyed on Steam ) and i can give proof of it...

So....what can I do???

Do you have any video filters or codec packs installed, etc?

Is there a name on the window that pops up, like 'Active movie', or something? (that caused a problem for a couple people with cutscene videos in Divinity 2, see here, though D:OS is a different game engine using different video encoding)


Please email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem (possibly a screenshot) and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS support tool (for the PC version). The report will contain system and game information, any crash dumps, and your saved games. If file size is an issue, any saves not related to the problem can be deleted (you'd probably only need to keep your latest save).

No, it has nothing to do with codecs or whatsoever....it is a cinematic movie created by Larian...suddenly like a void animation then it recreates an old DOS screen as the game is looking for the program, it is like a funny thing....I wish I could somehow tape it....

anyway I need oficial support i guess because this is for sure an eastern egg against ilegal copies ( not mine )...

It's normal. It's not a bug. It means you failed to protect Astarte or your party was wiped out. I saw that little joke of Larian's everytime I failed in the final fight. It's a little disturbing when it first appears but it is not a bug. It is definitely part of their design. You can hit F8 and return to your last load.

This is why you must save a lot in that final fight.

I haven't actually made it to the end of the game yet, and though the DOS program executing mentioned in the OP was a separate window, rather than part of the video.

If you play the final fight with the Void Dragon and Astarte dies or two party members (I think that's the formula) the screen will go black (I did not see this in a separate window) and what looks like your pc booting up will happen and you'll see:

"Can't find exe.file" "Fail.Fail.Fail" but I recall when I first saw it I panicked like this guy thinking my system had crashed only for the words (something like) "You have failed. You have lost" appeared which clued me in that this was Larian's little joke about me losing the fight. I hit F8 at that point and the game resumed as normal.

So pretty sure this was by Larian's design and nothing is wrong with this guys pc. But he can report it to be safe and sure.

But try hitting F8 and see if that works to resume the game and save often in that final fight (cannot stress how important doing that is).

A spoiler warning would've been nice...
