Hello, everyone.

Since there have been suggestions about special items, I'll add this one : A talkative Sword.

In the old "Rollenspiel" topic (presented in the thread about the "Lost Kindom Books"), we had a member who called himself Thorwyn, and he had a talkative SWord.

I have heard that this sort of items appeared elsewhere (Baldur's Gate series ?), but I don't really know.

So, what's this for ? For jokes, of course !

I believe that a talkative Sword - or talkative items in general - are predestined for humoristic incidents - and we all know that Larian is able to do that ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

So let me hear (read) your thoughts 'n' comments about that !

Alrik.

Makes me think back to BG2. With the Liniar(??) sword. That one could speak, although he only talked about killing and bragging about himself, but it was quite funny and a good sword for the time being...

The sword from Baldurs gate was called Lilarcor and he used to whine that he wanted to kill some stuff etc...
It also appeared in a cool mod for Morrowind!

I remember that sword in BG2. I loved it as it drew my attention away from some long walking and when I let the game sit and run without pausing.
Would be nice to see one or two items like it in RR and DD2

I love the idea, and rather than the way the talking sword in the stone was done a Jesting Sword would add a lot of fun.

During a fight or otherwise, the sword would or may go:

{
Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch and ouch.

Damn, that hurt.

I was born a sharpest sword and now I grew teeth.

Watch out!

I need repair, stop fighting, run, I said I need repair you damn fool. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Ha, ha, here they come, let me give them a tip, a sharp one that is.

Yuk, the taste of his blood is saturated with garlic.

Hey, put me in the sun I want to shine for a while.

Let me out of this holster I can hardly breathe, I am suffocating here.

Is there not a hard stone around here to rub against?

I can’t stand this dull feeling, exquisite sword polish is invented you know.

Oil, I need oil, I am rusting here.

Oh my! That shield was really tough master it bent my spine.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! be very afraid demons The Sword of Thorwyn have arrived.
}

I can imagine an endless number of phrases that keep the Avatar smiling and occasionally drive him crazy.

all this talk of eloquent sword sound familiar. we talked of this, right? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

what if it's a dagger instead of a sword? & u tuck the dagger on the front of your belt. every time u talk to it, u'll bend a bit to the front & talk to it. your reputation should lower after that a people will think that u're crazy enough to talk to your crotch.

you in a public place: NO! not now, i'll let u out & polish u later after i get us a room at the inn.

I'd go for a peace-loving sword you have to convince first that this battle is righteous?

"Nonono,not again, I've still got bloodstains you didn't wipe off - try talking first."
"Hey that guy's attacking me!"
"Ah, not all is what it seems - maybe difficult childhood? Wife left him? Do you want to pay for the orphans?"
<struggle>
"There's no speech option, you stupid piece of steel - now act like a sword and kill!"
"Nope, it's Sunday, I have to pray - convince me." <smilie would be helpful>
"Convince you? Hell, I'm 3/4 dead - now will you... or else..."
"Ah, only brutality reigns this world... in my young sworden days..."
"Stop..."
<result reload, throwing that sword away and going for more trustworthy weapons>
