I thought the webpage at http://www.cauldron.sk/pages/ubisoft.html was interesting. Cauldron was the developer behind the FPS - 'Chaser'. Here is the press page for contact information - http://www.cauldron.sk/press.html.

I am only putting this message on the board for the concern of Larian Studios. I know if I was entering a contract with Ubisoft I would be interested in knowing the details of this particular problem that Cauldron is having with Ubisoft and why it is not being resolved.

Perhaps this is an isolated incident and many developers have had good experience with Ubisoft? I'm not trying to make Ubisoft look bad - this is just a FYI post.

In the German section of this Forum, there have been reports of quite good games published and supported by Ubisoft, and others not.

Quote from Kajetan:

Quote

Zb. Will Rock: eine netter SeriousSam-Klon.

Summary : "Light and Shadow at Ubisoft". Morrowind and Splinter Cell were supported very good, Kajetan says, on the other side an F1-Simulation was very, very buggy, so much that you nearly couldn't play it, and the Patch was deleyed and delayed and later was presented as a full-price game.

Will Rock seems to be quite nice, Kajetan says, but is not playable on some PCs, due to the massiove "intervention" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" /> of the copy protection, or because of bugs. Kajetan additionally says that the Forums about that game "are full of hateful posts."

Conquest-Frontier Wars was seemingly designated to be published at by Microsoft, (dev Digital Anvil), but later disappeared there only to reappear at Ubisoft without any advertisement , any marketing, and nothing. Therefore, Kajetan says, nobody bought it, because nobody know about it.

In contrast to Cauldron, Larian Studios is not funded by UBISoft (as they were by CDV). They develop Riftrunner on their own funds and use publishers to take care of the distribution in their respective countries. This brings forth a different relationship. Larian Studios do not transfer the rights of the game over to the publisher. It's their game to do with what they want. The benefits are theirs, but then again, so are the risks.
I assume they have a better control and knowledge now of how many games are being shipped in the various countries, because of this different setup.
