Hi,

It seems the game deems me unworthy of becoming the Divine One...

I'm experiencing a game-breaking crash to desktop right after performing the blessing ritual, when the movie is supposed to play.

The game also spits the same "can't change resolution" (fatal) error at me when I try to play the intro from the main menu, or after alt-tabbing (annoying, but manageable).

Afterwards, the game won't run until I reset the config.

What I have tried already, without success:
- verifying game cache through steam
- all the options in the configuration tool changing resolution, software rendering, even the two tickboxes;
- compatibility mode and running as admin;
- tears and lamentations for my dying colleagues instance of the game -- the crash is savage enough;
- manually changing the resolution in the config file to 640x480 (the resolution of the movies from what I understand) the game won't run at all;
- adding "resolution switch 0" to either config file
- the intro plays well when it is set to play upon startup

My machine config:
- Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bits SP1
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3720QM CPU @2.60 GHz
- NVidia NVS 5200M, driver 9.18.13.3276
- Steam version (up-to-date)
- DirectX 11
- 5.05/112 GB availaible

Worst case scenario, I uploaded my save file for someone to perform the ritual then return the new save. It wouldn't fix the alt-tab part, but I can live with that -- I have until now.

Try reinstalling DirectX 9c from the support subfolder in the install folder, and reboot.

That should work when added to the config.div file. Did you add it at the very end? The game expects the last like to be blank, and ignores it, so hit enter before saving.

Here is a link to your save after getting to the wastelands, if you need it. You should be able to find the cutscenes and wastelands entry cutscene comversation on Youtube.

There are ways you may be able to get the game running in a window, which might avoid the problem Alt-Tabbing. Someone recently mentioned using DxWnd for Divinity 2, but I don't know it it has been tried for Divine Divinity.

Is it possible to switch this game to window mode?

That was the issue with the fix... config files are very sensitive animals!

Now I'm getting a similar error "can't reset gfx" upon alt-tabbing (on the main menu as well). I'll try out your other suggestions and see if it works, but at least now I can move on in my game.
