Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks *shakes head at her game* Having a heck of a time

I wasn't sure which forum to choose for this one so here it is.

Just today after near bug free game all the way through I am getting some weird stuff (not fun weird) happening with my game.

Raze..this is to do with the Dragon Armor fix you told me about a little bit ago. I decided to go back and get the three other Dragon Set items and then load in the Breast plate.

note: I actually have in another game gotten the Breast Plate and have it under another save as I just wanted to see what it was like. *g* Point being I am sure that I did the file transfer correctly.

After I did the steps for loading in the lost item, BAM. 1st game popped up the you did not shut down right error do you want to re-configure. No says I as I did shut down right before. I click "no" to re-configure, or cancel. uno
Game does not load at all, black sceen then desktop. I try again, msg, wanna re-configure? Ok fine says I and we reconfigure, yada yada...Game still does not launch.

At this point I got my save games back, I have the game launching and I would like to see that whole set now that I have my lil sharp teeth sunk into this.
I got the game launching correctly by deleting the files in the run/dynamic folder and deleting the Inventory 1 save game which was the one I created to get the Dragon BreastPlate

ohhhh, I am not sure if this would be causing the problem but I had both Teleporter cubes in my inventory when I did the Recover lost item thingie.

It sounds like something went wrong with the 'inventory 1' save. Perhaps overwriting/deleting the wrong file caused Divinity not to shut down properly, or maybe a shutdown error was what caused the problem with the save and dynamics folders.

You are backing up and restoring the original inventory files, so it does not matter where the teleporter stones are. I'd be tempted to just write it off as a glitch, make another copy of the original save game folder and try again.

So you are saying take my save games, move them and re-install the game to prevent future glitches?

That should not be necessary. You made a copy of your saved game before starting the inventory swapping, correct? I just meant to make another copy to try again (ie a clean start with a known good game, but a duplicate folder so any problems would not mess up the original save).

Yes, I made a copy beforehand. I'm funny that way cause you just never know when PoW a glitch sneaks up and bites ya.
