No problem! Go to your Divine Divinity directory, and go to the Run subdirectory.
In there, you will find a file named "config.div". Open that up with notepad or a similar plain text editor, and you can set the resolution to any valid number you like, all the way up to 1600x1200. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
If you're a ranger player with massive amounts to "+ sight" equipment, jacking up the res will make certain you are NEVER surprised by enemies. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> And there is the advantage that you'll have plenty of on-screen space for game interface windows.
There is also another line of interest, the "mem limit" line. If you have the RAM to do it, jack that puppy up for (one hopes) improved performance.
Now, I have a few related questions for anybody who knows their way around DD editing.
1) Does anyone know what, precisely, the config.lcl file is for? It almost seems like it's where the game gets its default graphics options from... is that correct, or does it have another function?
2) Personally I play on 1024x768 resolution, as in most of my games, but does anybody have a recommendation for a higher resolution that both looks nice and isn't eye-watering? I mean 1600x1200 has its uses I suppose, but none of the buttons are really made for it so the interface becomes a little TOO small.
3a.) The mem limit option... is that Video RAM, or System RAM? Big difference, right? Heh heh.
3b.) Can anybody recommend a good number for the mem limit? Currently I'm set to 128, which is a nice "safe" number. (half my vram, a third my system ram) but I'd like to know what numbers you people recommend.
Edit: Ah, Raze beats me to the punch! A pox on your first born, you amazing source of DD knowledge, you! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
