Hello Community,
as i felt like some others too, that the loot isnt rewarding enough i digged a little bit here in the forums, and tried somethings with the Editor myself - so thanks to the tips of the ppl here who posted their experience i want to share my part too
To make it Clear -> I could ONLY change the Loot of the Containers - No Npcs are included here, It is Possible that, after youre done with your changes, that it can be carried over to an existing savegame, i didnt try that because i started a new one
I will only describe the method i used, it is possible that there are other and easier solutions to this - if it messes your game i wont take responsibility for it.
Start the Editor, select the Module Main (Yes Main), if the editor asks you to open a level simply decline it (I think its actually important to decline it i will explain that later)
Open "Create and view Templates" from the tab at the top, so, in the new window there is a Load button (Looks like a Folder), click it and the editor will load the Root Template.
Now Press STRG + B, this will open the Sidebar. So far so good, i have Changed the Loot of the Barrels and Crates in general, if you would like to do that too, do the following: In your Root Templates Window: Open the Containers, there will be things like CONT_Barrel_A, CONT_Crate_A, Click CONT_Barrel_A and you will see something in the Window next to the RootTemplate window, so lets say you want to change the Loot in general for Barrels, Left Click CONT_Barrel_A in the right Window (The CONT_Barrel_A with the Red Dot behind its name). Search in the Sidebar Window for the "Inventory" Entry, This is where you can Insert the Loottable the Barrels will use IN GENERAL, Note that there are Barrels in the game that use Specific Loottables, that means a developer added them into the World, and changed the Loot Manually, so as far is ive seen these Barrels wont get messed up.
Things you can Type into the Inventory:
Note that the ";" has to be at the end of the Loottables Name, if youre doing it Wrong, like you type in a loottables name thats wrong, the barrels will simply contain nothing
MegaBoss (Explains itself - Barrels Contain boss loot)
HOM_LastChest (Contains the loottable of the Last Chest in the end of time)
There are many other Loottables you can use, finding their names isnt something that felt easy to me as the names of them used in the XMSL wasnt the same like in the editor, i simply searched for objects in the editor itself whom i believed to have a specific loottable i wanted.
Youre Done, but before you save, beware that the part where your game can get messed starts now, when you Save. At first, and before you save, go into your game Directory, navigate to Data/Puplic/Main, make a Backup of the things inside that Folder, If youre done with that Save your changes inside the editor, after this, Delete everything in the Folder Except the Root Templates Folder, after this, go into the Root Templates Folder - if you made Changes To the Barrels and Crates Like i Did, delete everything except the Containers.lsb
Now inside your Mains Folder should only be the Roottemplates Folder, and the Containers.lsb inside, remember that backup that you made? Copy it back again. If it asks you to overwrite the Containers.Lsb click no, because this would made your changes undone, you should be done.
I did this with my own game, and i messed it a few times, vanished Object names - my Characters wouldnt follow automatically one another etc, i got it working, so i hope this works for you too, of course you could try to change the loot of other containers, i made the mistake not to make a backup of the things in the Main folder, and i simply deleted everything beside to the RootTemplate Folder with the Containers.lsb and i ended up with no voices or Music ingame - well simply redownloading the game solved the problem for me, i am still in Cyseal with my new game and i didnt encounter ANY problems at all by now
The reason why you shouldnt open a map in the editor and delete all the other stuff beside to the containers.lsb is, as i believe due to bugs - when i load up the editor with a map alot of error messages appear at the bottom, and if you save your changes with those error messages they cause the problems ive described above, thats why we delete everything besides the Containers.lsb, and ofc the backup
Hopefully i was able to help to make your games more rewarding, and even more i hope i didnt forget something lol, and thanks to all those ppl digging up how to mod this game
