I just bought this game earlier today, and when I tried to play it the frames were just too low (maybe about 5-10 FPS). Even if I tried to change the settings nothing seems to help. The only playable resolution for me would be 800x600 on windowed mode, but that is just too small to read anything.

I know this question has been asked many times a couple of weeks ago, but has there been any improvement for anybody since then?

My specs are:
Intel i5 2430 (I think that's the number, I'm on a different computer at the moment) 2.60 Ghz
AMD Radeon 6630M
8 GB of RAM
Windows 7 professional service pack 1

And before anybody recommends getting a desktop computer, I have a physical disability that limits me to using only laptop trackpads. I was very excited to try this game out because it is one of the only few games I can actually play these days, but is not working out for me frown

WutDaFunk,

It's not exactly apples to apples here, but I'm using a MacBook Air (latest gen) and find the game's performance to be fine. I run it in full screen mode and have no issues with framerates or having to downselect resolutions.

Granted it's not Windows, but the MacBook Air isn't really designed to be a gaming machine, so I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Good luck in any case!

I know a lot of people get smooth frame rates with various computers ranging from old to new, but it seems like a lot of people have problems with laptops that come with dedicated graphics cards like AMD or Nvidia. Even someone on the forums had a laptop with two Nvidia GPUs running together, and their FPS wasn't great.

Are you using an Intel GPU? I know Intel GPUs run pretty ok, which makes sense because I think they're optimized already from when the game was still in development.

But I refuse to change to the Intel graphics card just so I can play this game at a slightly better frame rate because it's ridiculous.

It's playable, if you have a good and recent laptop. But heat and FPS is an issue.

You can actually buy trackpads for desktops--indeed, bigger and better trackpads than come standard with laptops. Desktops are recommended for gaming because they generally follow the hardware standards much better than laptops (which are customized in all sorts of goofy ways to increase power conservation in order to extend battery life, etc.) It's cool if you can't swing for a desktop and I sympathize. Just keep this in mind next go around. As a rule, we pay through the nose for portability & battery life but are short-changed most everywhere else with portables. That's why the rule is if you like gaming go with a desktop when at all possible. It will cost less and run much better.

I'm never wrong about anything, and so if you see an error in any of my posts you will know immediately that I did not write it...;)

Good morning all!! (And sorry for my english i'm italian :P )

I have same problem here, this game can run at high details or medium or ultra but...
frame rate is very slow from 16 (ultra - high) to 25 (medium).
If i use a smaller resolution the game goes a little better.
The problem is, that in the video option, i'm not allowed to choose my dedicated Radeon graphics
because this game doesn't see it.

I am using a laptop Hp pavilion that run perfectly Diablo3 on ultra (this is just for a reference)
These are the stats on it:

Model: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
Intel(R) core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @2.30GHz 2.30 GHz
RAM 4 GB
64 BIT
WIN7 service pack1
Video: AMD RADEON HD 6700M

Can u help us to solve this problem? Thanks!

PS: the game rocks! smile

This is a known issue. There are a couple things you can try in the topic Graphics Adapter Not Recognized by D:OS, but I think a fix will need to come in a patch for the game.

So, after about 6 months since buying this game and unable to play it, has Larian addressed this issue?

Since your hardware should be providing better performance than you report (even with your video card being not much better than the minimum), I think you would have to try the latest update to check the performance.
