Recently I got about 15 e-mails in my personal address at home. There were supposed to be send by Microsoft. They wanted to inform me that there is a new virus around and they send me attatched a patch which I sould install to my pc in order to avoid infection. I didn´t open the files. I first got the advise of computers dpt-Virus dpt of the company I work and they told me that Microsoft never sends e-mails. Those mails were viruses and I souldn´t open them.

I am just sending you these information so you will be prepared. Please don´t open those mails if you get them.

I must say OLD,

but since 2 weeks, I get like 30 of those mails EACH DAY, and frankly... I'm sick and tired of it, it's kinda depressing

I have received those before, but my nice and good anti-virus found them and busted them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />.

Mine didn´t. And it is so strange. I have a big corporate edition. Which I update very often. Must take a look at the settings...

Boy I am so mad. Who would want to destroy my poor pc? Why they do that?

It's about time they invented some anti-"virus-maker"-software... Make that hardware! Cut off their fingers, so they have a reason to act pathetic! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

On a sidenote: patches are never ever sent, by any company, to your e-mail. Unless you've actually ordered a patch in your mailbox, get rid of it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

or even better, auto delete EVERY e-mail you get UNLESS you SPECIFICLY know EXACTLY what it is, ie, a friend has sent you one, or its somthing you asked for, or maybe sent by work or uni to inform you of somthing important.

Im very skeptical about anything claimed to be 'free'
NO ONE gives out free things to people they dont know (unless they have a reason to, like spreading a virus, or gaining publicity)

Yes that´s it!!! I wish I could send something like that to people who destoy innocent´s peoples pc.... I didn´t open the mails but what if someone did? Think of a 13 year old kid who doesn´t know yet about viruses and runs the files... How sad!

People who design viruses I think that they are very smart. In fact I admire them. But they use their work so wrong. They could do so many things sending those viruses to the right places. Not to innocent people who gave so much money to build up a good pc.

Anyway I wanted to warn you guys. I am glad that none of us got infected. How could we play <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> if our pcs got infected? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

I remember one company got in trouble for sending their virus-program out for free, but attached to a Trogan. The scanner effectively "virused" it's way onto your computer and then told you it was infected. You were relieved that you'd gotten rid of the Trogan and purchased the software to protect you in the future.

same here, jurak. AVG for 2 years or so. pretty good, even the free version is good. but common sense still makes the best anti-virus measure.

Al thnx for the link but this was not the same virus. Blaster was the first virus I got infected. Pretty hard to get rif of him. This is a new one. Could destroy completely your hard disc.

The Virus Bulletin not very good, but partly very detailed.

You rather won't find the newest alerts there, but deep analysis of viruses.

By the way, I use F-Prot for DOS.
