You need to have the book from the three guys on the road IN you inventory. Only then does the statue talk.

As I cannot add anything (aside from the obvious - read the book before talking to the statue) I only welcome You <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />, hope Your "stay" will be pleasurable.

And you have to read the book because the statue will ask you questions about it and you will have to give the good answers !

You find the book outside of the garden. There are 3 people, and if you speek to them one of them gives you the book. Read the book and afterward save your game, because if you give a wrong answer to the staue then you won´t get a second chance.

Perhaps he already has the book, and it is stored away somewhere? What are the speech options that Otto gives when you talk to him? Have you already gotten the key and entered Nericon's garden?

The book is called "The Path of Life" by Nemris the Wise. It may not have that title when you run your cursor over it in your inventory.

If you talked to the head of the three guys and told him you were interested in learning more about their little cult, he should have given you the book.
