Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks "upgrading" of the Dragon B-plate really downgrade

When I have Grischa the might Dwarven Smith test his skills and UPGRADE my dragon breastplate, it downgraded it instead. I would have rather had the breastplate that I had BEFORE he messed with it. What is the story?

Yeah...I did save beforehand...so I can go back...I just assumed that since it was supposed to become more powerful in combo with the Heart that it would take the starting stats and Randomly add to it, not detract from it. Thanks!

All stats of the weapons, Armors,... are random. You just had bad luck!

But you can make use of a bug. After you got the upgraded armor you can buy back the original one from Grisha and therfore you can have two dragon armors... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

To avoid very bad stats save before first clicking on a found item. Then identify it. If you are not pleased reload... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/freak.gif" alt="" />

The "upgrading" is done randomly.
You must save the game before you give your breastplate to Grisha and if you are not happy, you can load the game and try again.
That is the story !

Actually, you can quick save after he gives you the 'repaired' armour, but before opening your inventory and running your cursor over it.

If something is put directly into your inventory, it must be moved for the properties to be set, unlike things on the ground or in a container. I saved the game after Verlat gave me a ring in Verdistis, then re-loaded a couple times to see if I could get something better. After deciding the first one was best, I re-loaded that save only to find the stats were not the same as when I saved.
