By the brooch you probably mean the one for sir patirck. You lvl doesnt have anything to do with this quest. You dont have to fight.

potions: there are alot of place sto get some. Use the teleporters (not the pyramids) to get to other places quickly. Or get yourself a good bed to take with you .

About rescuing Zandalor: you sill can do quest after that. You cant do any after hitting the gong when you have assembeled the counsil. You go to another place then without any way to return.

hm well for one your high enough to do the brooch quest around the same level I did it.

there is a Alchemist in the dark forest he has alot of potions to sell.

your probably not strong enough to rescue zalandor yet.

if the dark woods is getting to hard try going back and kill some more monsters, or stick around the lower level monsters in the dark woods.

afaik, there no monster there and it costs nothing to use the bed. You can even take it in your inventory (it weighs nothing).

First things first, have done all the teleport scrolls, i.e. the troll the Elven the Dwarven etc. , so that you can use the teleporters??
****************Spoiler**********************

If not try this and then teleport to the dwaven stronghold

Directly north of the Cursed Abbey, just southwest of the Cathedral with the ghosts in it.

There's a grave bside the house, the tombstone speaks of hidden treasure left by the previous owner... *cue suspenseful music*
