Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) General Boots of vampire- poentially the best? what???

I hear in kiya's site i should save before getting the boots of vampire cause it can be the potentially the best boots in the game. so i did save. and re rolled the boots couple of times. i got almost totally different stats everytime i idntify it. but from what i seem those should not be the best boots in the game. so why did kiya right that? and what stats it must have to be the best boots in the game?? help? :X

well I never found very good boots I went through the game with 150armor and 79to my health, and I'm guessing that the vampire boots are better right? (I never got the vampire boots)

Well the vampire boots you get from the vampire you kill in the dark cave in his chest.
if ther are better? i can't say much each time the stats are random but the armor rating stays at 70 if im not mistaking.
anyone can help by telling me why is it potentially the best? what amazing stat can it have?

I don't recall another set of boots consistently in the same spot. Random drops or purchased boots could possibly be better. This is what I got (and used until the end of the game);

ok so a question for you raze, those stats you mentioned on your boots.
are they good stats to have on boots??
or is there some legendary boots that outmatch em?

i remember selling the boots of the vampire, but danged if i remember where i found these - lego's boots
like everyone else has said, find something (hopefully with charm slots) and recognize they may indeed be the best you find.
and as has been pointed out numerous times, it's interesting that a pair of boots was not included in the dragon armor suite.

no there isn't any legendary boots that I know of I did all the quests but one (the elven amulet) so I don't think there is any.

don't use the charm slots until you get the large an <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />very large charms <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'm still not a high level in the game yet because I am slow player. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif" alt="" />

I also have a slow computer so the only times I usually reload is if I die. This is my first Boots of the Vampire I got and I kept them.

But at the moment I happen to be wearing Guard's Heavy Chain Boots.

The big difference is in the prices a merchant will give you. At this point in the game I was offered around 15,000 gold for the Vamprire Boots and only around 800 gold for the Guard's Boots.

Of course this is from a Healer who doesn't have that kind of gold.

price differences are reflective of charm slot number.

That's cool, those prices were from Mardaneus.

I was wearing Shoes of the Scorpion for while that go for around 1500 gold.

mardaneus is gonna give the best prices because he admires you for killing the necromancer.

The stats on my Boots Of The Vampire were about the best I found, but I wasn't looking to replace them, and rarely checked merchant's inventories for equipment. It also depends on what you are looking for as to what stats are good. For example, you don't get hit in the feet very often, so armour class wasn't a huge concern for me.

Yeah, I really don't have any great items yet and I guess the Vampire Boots are the best thing I own so far. Tell you what though, those Demon's Plate Boots look very nice!

I got fairly lucky with the Vampire Boots I ended up settling on.

+3 Defense
+15 Resistance to Poison
+10 Resistance to Spirit

(The charm level of 4 almost made me look for another one, but the other stats won me over despite that limitation)

The amount of variety you can get in these random high quality drops it really kind of amazing, when I feel like "save scumming" I usually end up having to write down the good stats I find so I can pick and choose.

Apologies for the thread necro. I wanted to mention that you can - very rarely - get an armor rating of 220 on the boots of the vampire (screenie below). Likewise, you can get 150 on the shoes of the scorpion. In that case, the other bonuses tend to be rather dull. I've taken Raze's advice and have ignored the armor column for boots.
