When you select a new talent (but don't confirm yet) and switch to another character, the selection stays active. When the other character also has an available talent point, he can take the talent without having the prerequisites (e.g. you can select Sidewinder with your fighter then switch to your rogue and take the talent without having any points in man-at-arms)
