Firstly, luv your work Larian Studios. Over the years I've bought all your games (sometimes twice) and followed the company religiously. Dragon Commander was the first Digital copy of your games I've purchased (through GoG) and it was great. I've also bought Original Sin plus the DLC (through GoG) and, thanks to time restraints due to work/study, am now about to install and test.

My question(s);

I have a friend who owns the Steam version, they want to co-op and tell me that I can register my GoG on Steam as well (something I thought impossible), is this true?

If not, can we co-op without one of us purchasing a copy from a different distributor?

No, you can not register the GOG version on Steam. Some people have both versions from the kickstarter, though.

You can play co-op between the GOG and Steam versions, though. One thing to note, however, is that Steam appears to have gotten rid of the option to disable automatic updates. There is a delay of a day, or so, when Steam updates before GOG releases the corresponding patch, so there may be times you would not be able to play until the version numbers match again. That will be less of an issue once the patching frequency slows down, and may be eliminated if GOG Galaxy allows developers to update directly (don't know if that will be possible; GOG has always done their own game and patch installers).

BTW your friend could always make a copy of the install folder somewhere else, and when Steam updates, start the backup version directly, and keep playing that until GOG updates.
