Numenorean is an extinct sub-division of Arda's Homo sapiens. They were long-lived and quite advanced, but fell due to the corruption of Sauron (who, back then, could still appear in a fair form) and their own pride. Some of the humans in the Third Age have Numenorean blood; the Dunedain are one of them, as are the Gondorians, though the blood is thinner in the latter.
