While running insanely around the House of Madness, I happened to notice a number of gems out on the front lawn. Has anyone been able access the area outside of the House and collect these goodies? Also, the first time I entered the House (and later had to reload the whole episode out of existence), I picked up some unknown item that immediately started reducing my stamina. Took a nap but then I could only regain stamina by killing someone and could not actually pick up any items. Weird - I guess that's why they call it "Madness."

The gems outside can only be reached by cheating (hexediting your position). Except for that they are pure decoration... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

Concerning the second part of your post I am not sure what happened here. Could it be that you picked up the cursed halberd from the cursed abbey, brought it with you and equipped it in the house of madness?

As far as i know this is the only item that drains stamina.

Besides that if you take a nap in the house of madness you should leave it, so I really don´t know what happened to you.

Kiya, Raze?

There is nothing important in the house of madness, but if you want you could try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder, then save and re-enter. The halberd from the cursed Abbey drains stamina even when it is just in your inventory, so shouldn't be the cause this stamina drop. You should not have had any problems picking up items, assuming you were not encumbered and were standing close enough.

The dynamic folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.

Can't have been the Cursed Halberd because I had already found it and stashed it away for future scrutiny. The loss of stamina started while in the House but continued after I left it. Then, I noticed that stamina was restored by successfully killing opponents. Unfortunately, I got into a major skirmish and was killed without having a chance to check my inventory to find out what strange item I had picked up. Loaded a saved game and the whole incident was just a memory. Oh, well ....
