Hi,
For some unknown reason, when I kill boratus after releasing the wolves, I pick up the key he drops for the chest, but when I open the chest with the key it is empty. And I have read that a manuscript of some kind is supposed to be in it but its not. So I went to the dwarven priest to get the holy grail quest, but because I don't have the manuscript or book I don't get the quest. Is anyone else having this problem? And if so what can I do to get this missing manuscript?

Just a guess: did you use one of the download fixes and didn't restore your old inv-files aferwards?

Raze has a download fix for the key and the book, click here

Please: Take only what you need and RESTORE your old inv-files according to Raze's instructions. If you fail to do this: you will be missing other quest items later on in the game.

No, I haven't used any file switching. But thank you for the reply, I shall look at the link you suggested.

You need to talk to the cow to get the Holy Grail quest. Have you done that?

This seems to be a bug.
Try in this order, save first, do not release the snake instead release the wolves and let them kill Boratus for you. Then pick up the key.
I know this answer is not timely but thought another player might find in helpful later.

I seem to be having about the same problem as Curvykat: when i open the chest with the key Boratus drops, it is empty. the link for the fix suggested above, no longer seems to be working. What to do?

ps: i am running the latest patch (version 1.0034) but i have to admit i messed around some with my inventory files. (Because i can't find my teleporter stones anymore)

The forum server/domain was changed; any old links to "lariancom.siteprotect.net" just have to have that part of the URL changed to "larian.com" to work properly.

Lost Items - guide and directory of inventory files

Did you backup your inventory files and restore them, in the save you were trying to get another teleporter stone set? Even if you didn't, if you used an inventory set from your own game, it shouldn't cause items to disappear in areas you had not gotten to in either save.
