It's been almost 2 months now since the Video series on creating a new mod were posted and there is no sign of any official written documentation on how to use the Editor.

I'm not entirely sure if there will ever be written documentation on how to use the editor. Any concrete guidance from the developers will really make the modding community thrive. A few of us are trying to learn how to use the editor efficiently. It honestly might be up to the community to formulate this sort of documentation.

Personally I hope, that before any official documentation they are going to improve the overall usability, UI , including wizards and templates and all that kind if stuff which improves your quality of live while modding and mapping. .

Once you do have a proper easy to use editor with and (self-)explaining tools you finally could do the official documentation. Right now I'd consider the editor a beta version.

I agree with morez that it'd be ideal if Larian would improve the editor significantly, and THEN write documentation, but I'll take whatever they give us. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the single greatest way to increase the life (and profit) of D:OS would be to support modding, and to do it soon. The longer they wait to improve the editor, the fewer people are going to reap the benefits because they will have moved on to other things.

It's sad how little they've had to say about modding. The last blog post and kickstarter update alike had virtually no mention of improving the editor in their plans. Hopefully now that they're done with the companions, the co-op dialog stuff, and the slew of other fixes and polish, they will be able to focus a bit more on the editor.

It shouldn't be up to the community to provide documentation on a creation tool. Not for the bare essentials at any rate such as creating a functional new mod with combat and some simple dialog. The Videos alone are not sufficient enough to replace some form of written documentation.

Sure, the Editor is in Beta and could use with some changes, but that's no excuse for Larian not saying in written form how the editor can be used.
