I have used the Divinity Engine before on my old system and it worked.
I now installed it on my new system and I cannot get it to run.
It always crashes when loading my (new) module with the error message "app has stopped working".

I start the editor in administrator mode and I have also checked my paths in the editor. All seems to be in order.

I'm running version 1.0.169 of DOS. Could it be that the latest patch is causing this problem for me?

Any help or advise is very appreciated.

I am getting the same issue. I checked the log.txt file in my The Divinity Engine folder. The error is:

* Missing language.lsx file in 'C:\Games\Gog\Divinity Series\Data\Localization\language.lsx'

However, the game's data folder is:

* C:\Games\Gog\Divinity Series\Divinity - Original Sin\Data

I double-checked the path was correct in the Editor's preferences. For some reason, the game's folder name is truncated from the path. Is there a path character limit? I'm redownloading the files from GOG to see if I can re-install in a different folder to test.

Edit: I've done some more testing and it doesn't matter where I install the editor or game, I get the same error when I try to load any module into the editor. It always strips out the name of the folder the game is installed to. For example, I currently have the game installed to D:\Temp\DOS and the error shows it's looking in D:\Temp\Data

I'm using the latest version of the game (1.0.169) and the latest editor available on GOG (GOG installer version 2.4.0.11).

Edit 2: Creating a new module causes a crash with the same error in the log file as well. It's when the engine is initializing. It looks like it nearly completes loading then AppCrash:

Same issue here. I checked my logfile, it seems that the materials are missing... Last log entry looks like this:

[19-09-2014 18:37:17:362][..\..\..\..\..\..\LSFramework\Code\CoreLib\FileFormatIO.cpp 29 ls::FileFormatIO::LoadFile]: Visiting of file [C:/GOG Games/Divinity - Original Sin/Data/Public/Main/Assets/Materials/Effects/FX_MP_Blood_Dissolve_A.lsb] has failed!
[19-09-2014 18:37:17:362][..\..\..\..\..\..\LSFramework\Code\GameEng

Hope we can figure out a workaround somehow :)

That's the same error I'm getting. Though from talking with a guy on the GOG forums, he has the Steam version and his Data/Public/Main/Assets folder doesn't have anything but a Sounds folder either. Raze is also posting in that thread, so hopefully we'll be able to get some assistance. :)

The Update to version 1.0.177 did not fix this issue for me.
Anybody else found a solution?

Hi, Piran Jade. Nothing yet. I've sent a private message to Raze from the GOG forum, so hopefully something in the near future. Are you running the Steam or GOG version?

Any news on this problem? Having same editor issues with actual GoG version.

Game patch version - patch_divinity_original_sin_2.12.0.23
Divinity Engine version - setup_the_divinity_engine_2.4.0.11

So any help appriciated. Thats odd that anyone from staff didnt answered to thic topic yet :(.

I replied in the GOG forum topic, and created a 'support issue' for this. There is no ETA for a fix, though.
