Is there any way to beat Zombie Jake without using a super powerful weapon or magic?
BTW I don't have them that's why I'm asking.

I really really sorry everybody

Later on in the game he'll be less of a problem.
Just avoid him for now.

If you have a bow and space to manouver you can shoot and run thats how I killed him. In the basement that is somehow difficult so I suggest you wait untill you are like level >10

There is always hope

If you have a warrior char you could do what engineer says.

Wait till he's close, do the special move and run. Wait again, special move again, run. ... and so on.
It's tricky though.
I used to do that with giant orcs till my char was strong enough to take them on directly.

Have you tried killing him after moving the flowers yet? That's outside and you have more running room.

Just today, on my first game, my mage beat him without taking any damage. I just ran around and used Meteorstrike on him. No biggie, I just had to use a couple of mana potions. Big XP

Is there any non-violent solution? I found his wifes grave and some flowers, and I wondered if that would do anything. Can you do anything besides mindlessly kill him?

No, no non-violent way to deal with Jake.

After 2,000 games of Fallout I have become enamored with the diplomatic path in rpg's. The only thing I didn't like about is that it didn't include a Diplomat along with Warrior, Wizard, and Survivor.

In my rpg's I like to play a manipulative silver-tongued talkie
