I bought this game mostly for the editor, and the editor just crashes.

I bought the GoG version, paths are set up correctly.

Error in the log file:

'[26-10-2014 05:46:07:321][..\..\..\EyesOfAChild\Code\EoC\App.cpp 990 App::LoadLanguage]: Missing language.lsx file in 'C:/GOG Games/Data/Localization/language.lsx'
[26-10-2014 05:46:07:670][..\..\..\..\..\..\LSFramework\Code\SteamBinding\SteamAPIManager.cpp 82 stm::SteamAPIManager::Init]: Steam must be running to play this game (SteamAPI_Init() failed).
[26-10-2014 05:46:07:671][..\..\..\EyesOfAChild\Code\EoC\App.cpp 865 App::InitCommunity]: Failed to initialize steam community"

Why is the GoG version asking for steam?

Also, it references a missing file in 'C:/GOG Games/Data/Localization/language.lsx'

But the install path is 'C:/GOG Games/Diviniy - Original Sin//Data/Localization/language.lsx'

That is a known issue some people have experienced with the GOG version of the editor. It will be fixed in a future update, but there is no ETA.

Thanks for the quick response. Is GoG recognizing / supporting this error? I'll likely try to refund and move over to the steam version.

Can steam versions play multiplayer with non-steam versons?

I don't know GOG's policy on this. Steam and DRM free versions can play multiplayer together.

I know GOG has a policy of allowing cross platform multiplayer. You might have seen the beta of GOG galaxy, the GOG alternative to the Steam API.

I recall someone confirming that it works - I have not tried it. One thing is for sure the version/patch number need to be the same among all players. So if some use steam they should turn off automatic updates since they might otherwise get a version newer than the one on GOG.
