Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems George's murder

I have killed the vampire in Verditis, he was George's murderer and now I want to tell this to Mardaneus. But his door is locked. I haven't talked to him about the council of 7. I know that his key is in Lanilor's house, but his door is locked and cannot be lockpicked. There isn't another way to his house and the ladder in the well to his place has disappeared. In the beginning, I gave the herbs to George. And I have version 1.00034, although the game I'm playing was already going before I installed the patch. So can anyone please help me?

i think that you have to start a new game after installing the patch, because it wont take effect in a previos save.

are there any giant orcs trying to attack you around his house? i think they hold him hostage.

Some of the story fixes only apply to new games, but other bug fixes and changes work for existing games as well.

Have you rescued Zandalor yet? Did you scry for the human council member? If not, do that first. If so, then the orcs Gridlock mentioned should be in Aleroth, and you can rescue Mardaneus and talk to him about George before the council.
