After some leveling, part of my summons became faster than summoner itself. Spiders is most notable example. When I summon them, they placed before my hero in the turn queue.

But naturally it means that they doesn't move this turn _at all_, so instead gaining speed, I losing it even more than with "slow" summons.

Does it work as expected? Maybe I am wrong, and spiders not "super-speedy", but "super-slow" actually?

The summons scale their level with the summoner, so a level 18 summoner summons a level 18 summon, for instance.

As summons are leveled, they also gain stats for those levels and that includes initiative and movement speed.

And as you noted, if you summon something that would go above the summoner in initiative (also reflected in the turn queue), it'll only get its first turn on the next actual turn, as the queue can only go from top to bottom (left to right as displayed in-game).
I think this is as intended.

Unless otherwise specified, just an opinion or simple curiosity.

It might be intended but it is a bit odd, though. So if you summon something that is fast then it won't get it turn this round. It seems contra-intuitive. When summoning something I don't think it should be added to the initiative queue *before* the summoner; only after.

Yeah, I know how it works. Question is: are this super-speedy spiders meant to be actually slower than anything else, or it's unexpected side-effect of game mechanic. If it's first case, then it's simply slightly illogical (if spiders are there at the current round, they must act this round somehow, right? They can be attacked, after all, so they are definitely here?), and then they actually must be placed at the very end of queue. But if it's second, then it must be right after caster instead, IMHO, to work approximately right. (if no mechanic change possible, of course).

isn't it possible to summon the spider before the fight starts? If so, then it is important for the spider to have high initiative and attack before the PC.

Just my 2 cents

Well, it's possible, but out of fight time is different, and spider is out of control too. I don't need my summons far back beyond me. smile
