Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks balins necklace/teach him a lesson.

well, im going through the game again because i like it. so, im in the poor quarter, talking to Balin, and like usual, dude wants his necklace. ok, so i go up to Jonas, and like usual, dude wants me to teach Balin a lesson. now, i could either give balin his necklace and lose a reputation point, or i could kill him and gain a reputation point.

Heres my question:
Has anyone found a way (with or without cheating) that i can complete both quests?

I tried (without cheating) to complete both quests, but on giving the necklace back, Jonas is immediately killed and IIRC you can no longer attack Balin.

Maybe if you kill Balin by indirect means, then use the procedure in 'Reviving dead NPCs'? Assuming indirect killing without Balin being hostile could complete the quest, you would have to restore a backup of the story.* files (I would guess) in order to undo the failed quest to return the necklace, so it could be completed.
Even if you could cheat to complete both quests, though, I strongly suspect you would still end up with one failed and one completed quest entry.

I have not yet completed both quests at once. I think it is virtually impossible to do. I killed balin and that was that.

i think thats the way the Larians wanted it. you have to choose between good and evil.
