I have Divinity II Developer's Cut from GOG.com.
A few weeks ago, I tried starting a new game of Ego Draconis, and discovered that my starting stats were radically different than I recalled them (when I was fighting the training goblins with a bow). I loaded an old saved game, just to be sure, and sure enough, stats were different.
Now, it starts with the following stats:
Vitality 37
Spirit 25
Strength 39
Dexterity 21
Intelligence 31
Hitpoints 323
Mana 239
It used to start the game with stats something like:
Vitality 1
Spirit 1
Strength 1
Dexterity 2
Intelligence 1
Hitpoints 71
Mana 71
The first indication of the high stats was getting a Legendary item from one of the barrels near where you start the game. This seemed unusual, until I noticed my stats.
[EDITED]
Okay, figured it out. You lose your stats when you get the dragon memories, and before you do any other training.
I guess that would mean that, if you want a chance at some early legendary/heroic/etc. equipment, it's best to check all the containers you can, before you talk to the people inside Farglow. Sorry for the confusion.
I have version 1.4.700.38 and the patch that updates it to 1.4.700.56 (allowing y inversion in dragon form).
