Not sure what info I need to post to help the problem solvers, so I'll defer that until later.

I have lost the detail/topography in my automap. It still shows my blue note flags and the red game flags, but no buildings, only a flat terrain.

I also can't move the map to and fro - it jerks and returns to my general vicinity. The mini-map and my active screen are fine.

I'm using Direct Draw without Smoothness, but have varied between the 640x480 and 800x600 display resolutions.

The game has been exquisite for a couple of months, so no idea what has happened. I have gone back three saved games, but the automap remains essentially useless.

I guess I could print out the wonderful maps everyone has provided, but it's not the same thing.

Any suggestions/fixes greatly welcome! Not sure whether I should keep playing or wait until this issue is resolved. Hate to backtrack too far, of course.

Thanks all!

Try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder.
This folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.

If that doesn't help, try starting a new game, run around a bit and see if the map works properly. If a new game works but your latest save does not, it may be a problem in the saves themselves. If neither work, it may be a problem with Divinity, in which case a clean re-install might help. For details see;

Update on my situation...

Deleting all the files in the Dynamic folder did NOT solve the problem.

When I started a new game, the Automap was fine.

Just out of personal curiosity, I'll backtrack thru my saved games and see where the Automap works again.

Since I'm a newbie, I doubt I'll backtrack back too far as long as the mini-map and my screen are alright. I cherish all my progress. LOL

Would it help to clean out the Dynamic folder whenever I quit the game? I don't mind maintenance.

No clean re-install on the horizon yet.

Can you zoom in/out in the automap, and if so does that help any?

Corrupt files in the dynamics folder are not very common, but since it is easy to check, that is one of the first things I'd suggest for weird glitches. It wouldn't hurt to delete those files after playing, but that would mostly just slow down the next start of the game (as they were re-created).

Didn't try that, Raze, but I'm delighted to report my normal Automap is back!

After trying the file deletion and the new game options that you suggested, I continued with your ideas and kept restoring previous saved games until I found one that had no problems. However, I simply couldn't *imagine* returning to that point after getting so far in the Verdistis sewers. HA! Gamers are nothing if not pressing forward at all mini-micro seconds, huh?

So! I resolved to somehow continue by resorting to printouts of maps if absolutely necessary. However, when I restored my most recent saved game, VOILA! There was my intact, beloved Automap in all its glory!

It's the cyber imps at work again, I reckon, but I'll take it!

I don't mind the delay as the Dynamic Files are recreated. It takes a long time for my loads anyway.

Thank you so very much for your help! Hugs and !!
