I know, it's not entirely RPG related... Only G related. Which makes it a little indirectly RPG related, right
So, Mafia -- Anyone played the full game? I've played the demo recently and it certainly has some interesting aspects. What I didn't like was the unabality to save whenever you want (or is that demo-only?), especially because a mission easily fails when your not-so-bright fellow-wise-guys get shot
Opinions? Do the positive aspects of the full game compensate for this irritating downfall? Better wait for a budget-price version? Forget about it?

As a fan of movies like "The Godfather" and "Once upon a Time in America", I really loved this game. It really drew you in to the period. The city was fictional but the style of cars and city really caught me, the music was fantastic also . I think I like Grand Theft Auto 3 better, but Mafia is still a great game. Violent as hell, but I guess thats in theme. Well worth it to solve. RPG's are better, but as action games go, this is as close as it comes to playing a movie.

The only game who features Mandrake's father .
It's GTA in the 1930's with great physics and storyline but a BIT less freedom. See if you can find a demo.

Indeed like GTA3 but more mission driven, but very good and interesting missions. In some of them you think you almost completed the mission but then something happens, and you realise you still have a long way to go. The mission where you have to race was really hard to me, but after a 20 times i finally beat it. And i'm sorry to say that it isn't possible in to save whereever you want even not in the full game. But the game is still worth it.

im not huge on 1st person shooters. i usally get sick of them after i play a couple times because there too repetitive. Mafia was differant thought. every level was so differant from the last. the story was great as well. it really seemed like you were in an old skool gangster movie. i couldnt wait to find out how it ended which was really cool as well. i must say, it stole a month of my life. i absolutly loved it therefor i recommend it. i give it 5 stars. $14 bucks here http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid=1120306463&domain_id=2266&meta_id=5

I din't know the game Mafia, but I have seen Grand Theft Auto. The thing I really don't like about games with this type of theme is that there were people like thaat in the neighborhood I grew up in, and they are not the kind of folks you want to glamorize or copy. They are cruel and unpleasant and will hurt and degrade others without a second thought.
The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer? ~Jeremy Bentham

How long has this game been out? I was in the Fanc recently but I didn't see it... (I'd have asked but I didn't see any man-in-green and I was a litle in a hurry already ) It has been released yet, has it? Pc-version, in Belgium? Anyone? Can't seem to find any release dates for this game anywhere either

I agree with you: people think being a "Gangsta" is cool whereas they're not someone you'd like to meet... I don't like GTA, btw. Vice City was good because of the music but monotonous and the characters (except for Lance Vance) were awfully borring. Mafia was out for a year or two... I am not sure. It's by the makers of Hidden and Dangerous: Illusion Softworks (not to mix with D.I.C.E. of Battlefield 1942 [Digital Illusion Computer Entertainment]).

Wow, I had no idea it's been out for so long... Anyways, *already* got it. Went back to the Fnac the same day and used my persuasive methods to get a copy they had hidden in the far back of the storage room

So you can start playing Mafia. Good luck cause you will need it for some missions.

Yeah some of em are pretty tough, although I expected worse. So far anyway... Seems like the demo-mission is one of the toughest. The race took me some time too, but boy was it fun "The Priest" and "The Whore" took me some time as well... "Visiting Rich People" was great too - we both got out unharmed and unnoticed, how 'bout that! I think I'm past half way through it already - real pity. Guess that's what happens if you don't have many plans for the weekend

I found the mission where you have to place a bomb and kill a woman in a hotel very amusing. First you get the cops after you, and then you jump in a church thinking it is done, seems that someone you killed from another mafia is getting buried, so there are a lot of people who want to see you dead. Man, was I happy when I finished that mission.
