Dear Larian what should be improved is the: Game Editor

There was an opportunity to make DO:S a new Neverwinter Nights a tool for making adventures to be played with friends or by other players. Mostly everything needed was there and even in such quality that it would be a true 2014 succesor of NWN.

Sadly this never happened because the editor is simply not user friendly.

Editor is powerful enough, but you need to be experienced game developer in order to use it. Where in NWN anyone could use it in minutes. Mostly thanks to prefabs and helpful UI and tooltips.

If Larian would invest in this one thing The game would not be the Game of The Year but the Giant NWN was that people still play for over 15 years , with thousands over thousands player made adventures.

I am sure that even if Larian makes DO:S editor Kicstarter it would be pledged in no time.

So please Larian Make this dream happen !

In the blog comments Swen said there was something that had to be negotiated with the middleware vendors, but the next patch should include exporters for the editor. For the other, I think I was thinking about a previous kickstarter video that mentioned the editor.

Well I hope you are right.

What I see as a great future of DO:S , perhaps even worthy of separate kickstarter is editor on the same level as one created for original Neverwinter Nights by Bioware.


I perhaps need not to remind anyone that soon after NWN was released we have allready seen mods that surpased story telling of original campaign, with sequels spanning hundreds of quality gameplay hours.

Live Dungeon Master feature (that would be easily added to DO:S) enabled NWN to become even better version of Pen And Paper.

And creation of mods was so easy that anyone could do it in minutes, yet experienced users could dive deep in script and produce wonders.



I think that few key features would be enough for DO:S editor to reach same heights:

Prefabs - Ready rooms , areas , monsters , NPCs , Items , traps , scripts ...etc
Tooltips -
Wizard -
And improved UI.


Taken from there , we would almost have no need for Larian to make new games smile
Or perhaps only to enritch models and resources for the editor !
