Greetings everyone. DOS never seems to really run smoothly on my computer, and I really want to know why. Back in August I put off playing this, thinking updates to the game might improve its performance on my system.
I made a short video of my gameplay (360p video when streaming, 1080p if you download the file):
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_-pmmvrj0VHYVptaEJheHcxNDg&authuser=0As you can see in the video the framerate is high enough, yet the camera movement doesn't feel smooth at all. It feels as if the camera movement speed is constantly changing. If I play it like this long enough I'll get headaches. After I start up the game for the first time it runs smoothly for a short while, but as time passes this slowdown always appears.
When it came out I played a couple of hours but the stuttering gave me headaches. I payed 40 euro's for this game when it came out and I know I'll love it. So it would be great if my problem could be fixed.
My system:
Intel i7 2720QM
ATI Radeon HD 6970M 2gb (catalyst 14.4 package)
8 gb ram
Windows 7 64-bits
I run DOS via Steam and have the latest updates. I use these settings:
1080p
Fullscreen
Triple buffering
Framecap 60
High models
High textures
Trilinear filtering
Medium shadows
Turned off texture streaming via the config file.
Does anybody have any idea what might be going on? Around 4.3 gigs of ram is used by the game, cpu usage is around 57% and the framerate feels high enough. Still it doesn't run smooth and gives me headaches.
