do u mean the monster in corinnas house? if u do then there is a speach option to kill it.

Unfortunately, you will have to go to the Dark Forest to get the correct branch; the one you can buy from Mpenzak is a fake (it is the only thing remaining in the pentagram after the ritual) and will cause the summoning to fail. You can leave this quest until you are stronger, and just re-load a save before giving Corinna the items.

Did you talk to the alchemist to the west of there? He also wants something from that area, and you only have two shots at getting close to the tree without being attacked.

Did you talk to the elves in the area about the tree? I ran into them just north of the tree, but the cut scene probably has a larger trigger area. They mention the tree is afraid of wood cutters....
