Just a quick note of an idea I thought of just after I played DD. I think it would be reaaaaally cool to have a proper RPG like DD but with a sci-fi setting, like a Star Warsy kind of universe, with light sabers and the whole lot. Those yanks 'borrowed' my idea and went and made Knights of the Old Republic, but still think a proper rpg sci-fi game with the DD engine, or an advanced version of it, would be really excellent.(If you guys like this, I'm free to come and work for Larian) .

ps: I can dream, can't I ?

I want to play as yoda.

If the create such a game they'll have both the fantasy fans and the starwars fans in theire fanbase. OMG all those nerds (before I get the reaction of "who are you calling nerds => I was referring to myself"). They'll rule the earth.

It would be great if they did it. Maybe after 2 and project X and 3 ( 3 Im optimistic )

Have you tried Septerra Core? It's more like Final Fantasy than Divine Divinity, but has a very good sci-fi setting.

I put together a skill system for a Divine Divinity style, sci-fi RPG. I've got it lying around somewhere... It needs some polishing, though.

HandEFood is right. Septera Core is like this. And very nice graphics and dialogues. It was the first rpg I ever played and made me like rpgs (I was playing only adventures).

Something like another dimention of Divinity Universe? It's quite possible to make a cyberpunk dimention without really spoling the game... though lightsabers are propriety of LucasFilm so I wouldn't want Larian to be sued...

So, why not to get KOTOR? I heard it has great reviews.

You could post the rules and tweak it for an RPG pen and... err Keyboard and Monotor game. Would help pass time untill BD comes out. What do you think?

I'll have a look. I've got two versions at the moment and need to see which is more complete. I never thought of it being a pen-and-paper game. It might work, although I think the numbers (eg. damage) are too high to make a well paced game.

You could always tweak it!
Would be our Official Larian Divinity Universe and Dimentions Role Playing Game Version 1.0, or OLDUD RPG v.1.0

It might work with the Divinity Universe. It's really only a game-system so far, so you could adapt it to any story. There's melee and there's guns. There's psionics (magic) and there's mutants. There's cybernetics and hi-tech equipment. It's designed with six cross-classes in mind, but has a freeform (though requirement heavy) skill tree.

Classes:
[*]Covert Operative - explosives, acrobatics and cybernetics.
[*]Matrix - super agile and dual weapons.
[*]Marine - guns so big you can wear them, walk with them or drive them.
[*]Brute - cause fear and panic, throw big things, re-animate the dead...
[*]Transcendant - manipulate the elements and evolve your body.
[*]Commander - advanced weapon tactics and convice your enemies to join you.

Just a taste 'til I can upload it tonight...

Ahhh!
Blade 2: a guy with a silver sword
Rambo: A guy with a naked torso and a big gun
Rocky: Unarmed expert...
Seriously, though I like the idea, the "Matrix" class sounds unoriginal. Even Shadowrunner would've sounded better (sorry). Why not have a psionic class whose brain hemispheres were modified to work independantly so he can fire two weapons and dodge better... anything but the matrix: I had enough Matrix Lunchboxes, aniMatrixes, Matrix cell phones, Matrix figurines by Spawn.com, Matrix breakfast cereals and Matrix flame throwers (ok, maybe not the last two).
I like the rest of the classes. Commander should be able to persuade the enemy INTELLIGENT creature not to attack or join and be able to distract stupid creatures.
Brute shouldn't be able to speak words: only groan.

Don't worry. This is all developmental. I hadn't come up with any real names and just wanted something to give an accurate picture. The Matrix class basically has two weapons, extreme accuracy, and near-super human acrobatics. Maybe Manga-dude is more appropriate?

Psionics is one of the lesser classes which makes up the Brute, Transcend and Commander cross-classes.

The Commander's highest ability, Diety, let's him change his/her apprearence and presence to that of the target's diety. Depending on the type of opponent, they will react in different ways (charm, pacify, panic, self-destruct, ...)

The Brute isn't that stupid. He has powerful telekinetic powers, like Magneto.

Hmm... Magneto? He is not THAT strong, is he?

What if the commander meets an atheist? Selfdestruction of the commander? Well, we should change the names of the classes. I have yet to see a general who can transform into Jesus Crist .

Nothing! Consider it immunity. And the change is just an illusion, not real. They could still be charmed though (lesser skill).

The names definately need a change. I think there may be some better ones in the version I have at home. I'll start a new thread tonight when I upload it so we can stop going off topic.
