I just wanted to thank Larian to organise this contest. I am a bit suprised not see this contest mentioned on the forum here (or did I mis the topic somewhere ). I was expecting at least some discussion on the question or was it so easy? By the way, was this an idea of digital jesters? Anyway : thanks again

It was mentioned in the announcements forum in a post about the first newsletter, and discussed in a topic in the RPG Chat forum (with spoilers).

I did not find out the answer
I did not want to begin a discussion by saying "I am very stupid..."

Raze, have you sent an answer to digital jesters ?

Yes, I sent in an answer. Were you having problems deciphering the ruins, or with the answer itself? If the ruins, I'll quote one of my replies in the a question about divine divinity (spoilers) post;

"Take another look. All of the ruins are a deformation or modification of standard characters, some more obvious than others. The 'E' is easily recognizable, as is the 'O' and 'U'. The triangular ruin looks like a 'D', the one on the end looks like a 'Y'. With that you should have a fair guess at the last two words. With the known letters and a bit of pattern recognition, you should be able to fill in the rest."

If you got the question, but don't know the answer, it was not always referred to in the game the same way as in the question, but if you relax/expand the definition of the key word in the question a bit, it should be easier to figure out. It was meant to be an easy, 'obvious' answer (at least with English as a first language), and does not require obscure knowledge to get. Stronger hints are in the topic above.

I managed to find the question the first 15 minutes and I was surprised because when I first saw it I thought it was very difficult. Raze is right. You have to relax and imagine the extensions of the letters. But I will not take part in the contest. I thought of it and I decided that since I don´t play chess, I have no idea and there is no friend of mine that plays to show me, it is unfair to take part to the contest. I want someone else to win it (from Larian forum of course) and enjoy it.

So good luck people. I wish that someone from here will win. Then I will bring the campaigne (Barta correct my spelling if it is wrong and if you want a clue for the contest pm me )

I don't know the answer either - guess that makes two of us then -- been ages I've played and I've forgotten quite some things about it already. I want to forget as much as possible about it, so that when I replay it, I 'll enjoy it more
I could probably find the answer relatively easily on this forum, and I even like chess and I like fantasy universes - but there's probably a whole lot of people out there who would be a lot happier with it than me - so I'm just gonna leave it alone
Now if it had been a true Divinity chess set, that had been another story

Yes I know

If I get all the letters I'll make a rune typewriter/translator If I find the time. (after the game is realeased a couple of weeks later). Aarg present why are you alsways behind me. Must find more time => less sleep? No I already am a walking zombie.

Hmm... I can read what morbo wrote... But why do you need that fond? Can't you just read the runes without any programs? Just try to read fast and you'll see the text!

The font is a step in the creation of a program where all the runes are displayed as keyboard => type in the runes and the translated text comes out. If only I had time to do it and I still need the 4 letters.

I thought deciphering the question was fairly easy. Just stair at it and it will magically appear in front of your eyes.
Anyone who played Divine Divinity shouldn't have a hard time figgering the answer out.

Even with the help of Raze I messed up one word, then got help from onther forum friend. But, even with the wrong word I got the answer.

I think I just screwed up the whole thing all around and sent 2 different e-mails. The chess set is very cool IMHO, and I have been looking for a nice one for quite some time now. Maybe by some amazing fluke, I might just win it.
