Hello Larians,
in the current era of early access products the Orginal Sin shines as a dimond on the heap of coal.
I was quite sceptic when installing the game on x-mass but, here are few thinks which makes me write this article.
+++ Backpack, basket and barrel in the inventory. Click on it and, ... Oh guys I was stoned, I had a feeling like I discovered Ultima Online again!
+++ atmospehre change when come from outside to inside: that makes me jump out of PC run around, then try it again. Just for the effect. Light and noisy market but dark and quiet hospital. Few steps away. Just great.
+++ persistent world : jeeez, I could leave an armor behind and pick up later, or make a mushroom collection on a table in the pub.
+++ I can map mouse side button (xButton1/2)without 3rd party software. Although in Windows API for about 15 years, it is still too short for majority programmers to notice that. Big respect to your engine enginer guy!
+++ 3D graphic: make the game in DX9c look so fresh. Is an dark magic in use? It runs greate even on one my old test/reference rig Core Duo-HD 3780-2G ram
+++ The chain character menu and his functionality. That is brilliant piece of UI design. Don't try to improve this piece in the next RPGs. Even a pixel :-]
+++ Absence of kill the rats and come back with 10 tails quests.
+++ I have stolen jail keys, stole all things in the treasury. Then sell the big wine barrel from the treasure room and the key back to the to the guard just front of the door. Then happily walk to the sun. I am really interested what the head of the Legion said the guard downthere.
Regarding the invitation for constructive criticism in your blog : There are some things need to improve:
- that popup menu for sorting items in the inventory. Come on, there should be icons in a horizontal line. So you have filter icons in the column on the left and sorting icons in the line on top. I guess you could fix it in a patch. <<< can be fixed in a patch
- too few skill bars. My mage has 40 spells on the 11 level now. + bag with heap of scrolls. It is a lot unnecesary of clicking back and forth. Can you add a free form resizable trasparent box for skills. It is the same UI component like chat window or battle log. Just skills or scrols can fit in.
- add ability to put the root icon of the skill tree to the quick skill bar. This root icon works like a container. So I can drag the Witchcraft Icon from the skill browser to the quick bar. Then one click on the icon and "a skill bag" with the all my witchraft spells opens. I can remove a spell out, but on default there are all the current spells. The skill bag is a free form UI component and remember its position. So I can form a square or a line from it and put it on the specific place. (Same like battle log) It close herself when it looses focus.
- save the position of a container window. I want my scroll bag open in a specific location all the time. I want my potion bag open in the specific location all the time. <<< fix in a next patch please
- in combat show the open bags of the active character only <<< fix in the next patch please
- combat targeting - I have lost 2 battles becaouse of the enemy idle animation changed at the moment i have clicked. Co my toon walked there instead of attack. Allow target common attack to the Icons on top. I would help also stop the idle animation of the target. Or better Stop the target animation if he left from mouse focus by himself.
- make an recipe book in graphic

That book is must have in your next RPG or maby an DLC to the D:OS.
once you discover the recipe its added to the book. Also please, on beginning put in automatically some comon/default recipes as - the dinner, mashed potato, and so on :-]
In the next RPGs I would like to see better animation and collision system. I see interaction as crutial for Larian's trademark. Also consider add physics of cloth,hair and inverse kinematic for bodyes. Stay with DX9c until DX12 will come common. Stay with 4 members in the party at maximum. Please tone down your spell&skill effect guy - the element effect on weapons are awfull, electric spark from the bow on the back thru the belly is nonsence. Even a small healing spell has an over the top rip-ass effect. Some skills animations are quite pokemon-like. Althou rain and ressurect spell animations&effects are great.
With this game you realy made my day(month). I have spred the holy word thru my friend so they bought/will buy the game too.
