Does picking an AI Personality at the beginning essentially cement your player's traits? I know that your choices affect your traits under normal circumstances, which is why I'm afraid that if I pick an AI Personality (for fun) it will no longer allow me to increase/decrease my traits towards differnet things based on my choices I just want to know if that's the case, or if they're just a template that change just like if you start with none.

Ty!!

Basically, yes. The character you're currently controlling can pick whatever you want, but the other one will pick what the AI prefers (or randomly if there is no preference). If you want to micromanage both characters Trait progression, pick "None" and you choose both options yourself.

Thanks, but OK what I was wondering is this. Let's say that I plan to give Barter or Charisma to one character and try to only use that one to talk to people (hypothetical situation). So, I thought, selecting that character's personality AI at the start to something like Rascal (because Egotisticlal will give +1 to Bartering) would help. However, does that mean that:

1) I can't make my own choices, even if I'm talking to NPCs? And if I can though, then :
2) Does it mean that if I make choices that are, for example, Altruistic type rather than Egotistical, that the bonus can't go away no matter what?

You pick the choices for the character you are currently controlling. What you picked for the AI personality does not matter FOR THE CHARACTER YOU ARE CURRENTLY CONTROLLING.

If you want a character to always pick egotistical, you can control that character and guess which answer is right, or have the egotistical character be the character you are not controlling during the dialogue.

You choose the options for one main character, and the other will answer based on their AI personality. If there is a difference you can not always determine who will win, short of reloading (the first person who answers can change their mind), though Charisma can help.

You can start off with a trait pair one way and change it answering the other way enough times, which will change the bonus.

You can change the AI personality at a certain point in the game (in the room in the homestead opened after the end of time).
