I have been getting bad luck with old games recently, as this is the second game where i experience a crash that makes the whole computer crashes.

Beginning of the game, i have to talk to chief Marthaneus so see how to heal his madness. A man tries to have him drink his medicament.

Marthaneus shoots something. This is here crash happened Computer froze, meaning i couldnt alt tab or use the task manager, or rather, i could but really really slowly.Seeing how things way i tried to close windows session, but instead i heard bip bip.

I had to manually restart computer. Previously, same problem had happened on an old game called desperados, a trouble some bug i had fixed by running the game with single core affinity.

Could i use the same solution here?

Config: Windows 7 64, duocore E 8400 3ghz, 1360*768 res,Gtx 275 Nvidia.
I am using the physical dvd version from anthology. I can resort to the steam version if need, but not tsure it wont happen on steam too.

Mardaneus is casting a spell at that point to freeze Lanilor in place (until you find a way into undo that).

It couldn't hurt to try running the game on a single core, though this isn't a known issue (some people have had random static in the game, which could generally be fixed by running the game on a single core). The easiest way to do this would be to right click on the div.exe file in the Divine Divinity install folder, select Properties, switch to the Compatibility tab and set it to run in Win 9x mode.

You could also try lowering/changing the game resolution, or switch to Software mode rather than Direct3D.

You could try re-installing DirectX 9c and the VC redistributable in the 'support' subfolder of the main install folder.

Try a clean re-install of the game: uninstall, reboot, make sure there is nothing left in the install folder (except maybe your saves, but you haven't gotten far enough to worry much about them), shut down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus), re-install, start the game and get the update to 1.0062A (as shown in the bottom right corner of the main menu).

Thanks, i will try this.Just one thing though i believe the anthology version(which comes with Divine Dvinity+Beyon Divinity+Divinity2 is updated to the most recent version iirc).I have checked and i am already to the 1.0062A.

I had an other crash later in the game, randomly fighting orcs;i think its actually an issue with cores, i am gonna try to play with a single core for a few hours and see what this gives.

The single affinity trick works fine, thanks.
