Hi,

I actually don't have a technical issue with D:OS,
(never had some so far and that's amazing!)
but I really wonder this :
1) What's the real difference between the FAKE fullscreen option (under the tab Video) and the fullscreen option ? (besides the third option: Windowed )
2) If I play "Windowed" : will this mean I can easely switch between playing D:OS and do somethingh else on my computer ? Like searching on this forum board or making a post? Or open a file wherein I collect information about my current playthrough? Or search the internet for info .... ? Is that possible ?

I've "tried" all 3 video options one day to check them, but I dare not to "test" things yet. But checking these options I didn't "see" or feel or experienced any difference between "fake" and not fake fullscreen play (but to be honest I just rather check the options, play a little bit, that's all, sorry!)

Fake fullscreen is a borderless windowed mode. It should be easier in a windowed mode to switch to other applications (ie if you have a secondary monitor), without having to Alt-Tab out of the game in fullscreen mode.

So, playing with the Fake fullscreen I can also easely switch between D:OS and a opened file I'm working on (for example) ?
So with ALT - Tab I can do the trick or am I wrong and do I missunderstand what you mean ?
Sorry, still confused about this confused

I'm not sure; I have not tried doing any multitasking with fake fullscreen.

Thanks Raze. I will check it again later on ... and I secretly hope some of the Team of developers can give me a good reason why they make these video options,
there must be a good reason for that,
otherwise it feels like wasting time to create these options !! wink

1st reason:
The overlay handling.
- some support programs work better with border-less window like - Steam popups from firends or Fraps.
Fullscreen uses less video RAM and dedicated access to gr. card ->> the game has better performance.

2nd reason
in case of two monitors behavour is different.
- True fullscreen - mouse cursor doesnt go away from the monitor.
- Border less window - you can freely/seemlesly move your cursor from one monitor to another.

It depends what you want to do.
In case you do some guide (or are you skype chatting on other moitor) you might prefer Border less window.
In case you watch a movie on the second monitor, you might prefer fullscreen to prevent unwanted moves out of game.

Alt-Tab works the same in both cases.

Part of the reason for using the fake fullscreen mode is with multiple monitors, but it can be useful with one, as well. For example, certain mouse options in Windows, or conflicts with certain programs, can cause the mouse cursor not to show up in fullscreen mode, but it may be ok in a windowed mode.
Someone recording or streaming a play session may get better results in a windowed mode than running it fullscreen.

SteamOS is a customized version of Linux that Valve released, optimized specifically for gaming.
