sure u can. just double-click on the spellbook & u have the spell(s). there is no level requirement for the spells as far as i can recall.

hope that helps & welcome to the forum, leszek.

You can also buy mage spell books (but not warrior or survivor skills). Click on them in your inventory to learn.

i make numerous trips to the market area to just buy spell books sometimes. when i level up i never take any mage skills unless they are needed, because i can always buy them if i need to.

No, getting the same spell book is good - you get a level more in it - without needing the ususal requirements. lvl 5 is cap/spell.

Also, if you find a skill book for a spell you already have maxed (or just do not want), they can be sold for a fair amount of money.

With the latest Patch you can trade with almost any NPC ... and sometimes they have Spellbooks, too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Sometimes a poor farmer, he has maybe 3 gold pieces, an apple, and a 5k spellbook for some spell! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

IIRc, throughout the game, without random spellbooks, you can get up to level 4 restoration for free, so get level 1 first, then start doing all the other's, and you get level 5 early on!

That's interesting, i've never clicked on the trade icon with farmers etc, i just assumed they would have cheese and bread and the like. I must try it out. I did find a spellshield book in jorams place at the start.

Thanks for the tip Lews. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

I found a Burning Wall spell book in Mardaneous' house, which was the only way I could kill the spider at the bottom of the catacombs. As a warrior, I only used the spell another once or twice, with the heavy orcs when first leaving Aleroth.

You can make up for a lack of luck with persistence;
If you quick save before running your mouse over an item/chest/merchant or hitting the alt key, you can identify the item or trade with the merchant, then quick load to get different stats or inventory. This can be done repeatedly to get the best stats or specific bonuses on an item (save after finding good candidates) or looking for specific items (such as spell books or charms) from merchants. Don't waste too much time with this, though, it really isn't necessary to get the best possible equipment.

All/most bookcases have a small chance to contain a spell book. By saving and reloading, someone said they got something like 20 books just in Aleroth (in addition to the bookcases in town, there are at least 3 I recall not too far into the catacombs).
