Hello,

I saw there was going to be 4P multiplayer (yay !) and that you create 1 protagonist when you start a new game. So does that mean that the other three players have to play three pre-made companions or can they "import" a character they made themselves or even that, as the player who created the game, we can create 3 custom companions ?

Sorry if this was explained already but I didn't see anything about it specifically.

Thank you for your answers.

Will we see imp or lizard companions?

Is there any chance we can have similar "choices" or discussions with our companions / within our party, in respect of stuff that happens in the world, compared to what we had in Dragon Commander?

Dragon Commander's "political choices" was the most original and refreshing idea for getting buffs/de-buffs integrated into a strategy game ever.
StarCraft II has a great mechanic where you upgraded / specialised your units as you progressed through the campaign, but those were merely: "spend $X to gain either A or B"
Dragon Commander allowed you to choose whether to Unionise Labour!!! To allow kids to smoke !!! To set up an inquisition !!!

As a player, I'd love to have a 2 or 3-way argument with my companions about the happenings in Rivellon.

Hello again, I just saw on Kickstarter an answer from Larian to a question similar to what I asked so I'll post it here in case someone's interested :

Cr饌teur Larian Studios LLC

"@weresheep: in regards characters in Single Player mode, that's still being discussed. Of course we want to give people as much freedom as possible, but asking you to sit there and make four deep, complicated characters might be a bit much. There's a middle ground in there somewhere and, like many things, it's still under discussion.
But the thing that we want to remind people about in single player is that the companions aren't just henchmen that you pick up along the way. Each and every one of them will be just as deep and complicated a character as the character that you make when you start the game. It's going to be a great experience putting your party together, and we're really looking forward to seeing how people react to it!"

So I guess it's still undetermined. smile If I may add my opinion : while I do appreciate Larian's work on creating fabulous companions with deep backstories and complex personality, I can't help remembering that in every RPG I've played, there always was companions whom I liked more than others. So, of course, we don't know yet how many available companions there will be at release but I have to say, and I'm sure I'm not alone, I wouldn't mind *at all* being able to create all of my four character and companions for the adventure. smile If Larian decides it's too much, well, I can't blame them, I guess.

Well they can kinda do both. Give us some deep companions, and then also have 'blank' henchmen we can hire also. This is sort of what they did in DOS. They could even give you more freedom by letting you pick the class/sex/etc. of the henchmen. If you want nothing but archer amazons in your group, just hire them.

New elements :

Larian Studios LLC
"I see what you mean. That's not something that we've made a firm decision on yet. If you start a game together in multiplayer then you will get to design your own character, but I'm not sure about drop-in games. That's going in the "we'll have to see" box."
"You will be able to create your characters in multiplayer too, the two game modes will be very similar. Basically, the only difference between playing single and multiplayer is that in singleplayer you'll be controlling 4 characters, while in multiplayer your friends will be controlling some of those characters. In terms of how you experience the story, it'll be pretty similar otherwise."

The fact that you get to create your own character if you start a multiplayer game with friends is a great thing. smile
