Hi,

I've been playing the original version of DoS fine. But the enhanced edition seems to require an internet connection even to start the singleplayer game.

I get "connection failed" whenever I try to play. This is because I've blocked the game from connecting to the internet in my firewall.

This, however, goes against GoG policy of not requiring an internet connection to "activate" or play the game, and I don't know whether this phone-home activity is DRM or not, which also goes against GoG's policies.

The original version didn't require this. I've emailed Larian about it, in case they mixed up the steam and GoG versions.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Did you use Galaxy, is it still running when you tried to play it? If so, try it with Galaxy disabled.

No, just the plain installer. I don't even have galaxy installed.

I doubt that it's doing any phone home or DRM things. It may be due to you having networking options enabled in the game, but even without that, games nowadays often request network access for internal communications (local loopback, especially if it's using a server/client model).

I don't have any networking options enabled. I only play singleplayer anyway. I just don't see how it should need to be any different from the original version.

Hopefully Larian will reply to my email and ease my mind.

Edit - I just unplugged my network cable, and indeed the game does work fine without the internet. So it would seem that it just needs local network connections. Pity larian didn't mention that. Also they could have added an option to disable that check if the user desired. Ho Hum...

Try starting the game directly from the '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\Shipping\EoCApp.exe' program file, by right clicking and running as administrator.

If you have a Bigfoot NIC, see the D:OS topic Killer Networks NIC and can't load the game? Fix!

Please email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS EE Analysis Tool. Extract the zip file somewhere, run the AnalysisTool.exe, browse to the install folder if it is not automatically detected, optionally run the tests first, and and generate a report (it will be saved in the same location as the Analysis Tool).
