I have the exact same problem! So frustrating. I've got all the latest drivers installed and Divinity Original Sin worked fine on my computer before - just not the Enhanced Edition for some reason. My error message says: "Failed to create rendering device! The application failed to create the rendering device. Please make sure you meet the minimum specifications! (DX11 Compatible GPU with the latest drivers installed)"

Having the same exact problem and message here. No problems playing the original, I have DX 11, and all specs seem up to spec as it were. Gotta get my Divinity fix! ;)

Looks like drivers report DDI incorrectly: instead of '11' you get '9Ex'. This might cause the game to falsely assume that your card isn't DX11 compatible.

And how to fix that Thiev ?
I have the same problem also. Before, Divinity Worked just fine on my computer. But This "Enhanced Edition" dont seems to follow her older sister version of the game.

I have the same problem also. Before, Divinity Worked just fine on my computer. But This "Enhanced Edition" dont seems to follow her older sister version of the game. The first step is to find out the cause and there can be several: 1) the card might not fully support DX11 - remember, that this line of DXDIAG: 'DirectX Version: DirectX 11' only tells you that DX11 is present in OS, not that your card supports it; make sure that your GPU is fully compatible with DX11 (it should be in tech specs / manual) 2) the card is OK but the Windows causes problems - there is a hotfix that might help (here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/975243) but no guarantees 3) card and OS is OK but the graphic drivers report DDI falsely - that unfortunately can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and your best bet is to Google Search similar problems (googling 'DX11 DDI problem' returns significant amount of hits)

I have the same problem. Have tried the usual. I would hate to yet again buy upgrade for my PC to play one game. I'm getting too old for this. Remember disabling autoexec.bat to play Doom....... Disappointing that same specs not used.

Monitor drivers can also cause this problem. Check if there is an updated inf file for your make and model of monitor, especially if Windows just has it listed as a generic PnP monitor.

A clean re-install of graphics drivers may help. There are also programs that may lock the DDI to a lower version. For example one person online had a problem with a USB adapter / receiver designed to let them connect their monitor wirelessly. An Asus overclocking tool can also be at fault ( Directx 11 and DDI 9Ex error - solution for ASUS cards).

Please can you be more specific on what is going on.
Do we will have to buy a new graphic card (wich will be very desapointing, because D OS "base edition" used to work on that kind of configuration) ?
Is there will be a patch for this problem ?
Are there others manipulations (like downgrad to direct X 9.0C) we can do ? and how ?
Thanks.

You would need to upgrade the video card to play the game in Windows. D:OS uses DirectX 9c; the EE requires hardware support for DirectX 11.
The Linux requirements have not been announced yet. It is theoretically possible the Linux version could run on your system (when it is released in December), depending on what version of OpenGL is required, and assuming you are willing to dual boot. Given the increased feature set in DirectX 11, though, a corresponding increase in OpenGL requirements wouldn't be surprising.

I have a nvidia 980 and I am getting the same error. I'm sure for some people it is an incompatible graphics card or driver or what not. But I'm all set up for dx11 and still the same error. The internet is kind of dry on this error. My game starts though and randomly at about 20 minutes or so I get that error. No matter what that error shows up in game no matter what is happening in the game. I'm drunk and I neeeeed divinity. Help the drunk guy. My computer rules it's new and was a 2 grand machine. So I meet the specs. but oh the drunkness

Have you tried other DirectX 11 games? This could be a hardware issue (in which case other, similarly demanding games should also be affected), or a driver problem. Check for updated graphics drivers and Windows updates in general. If you check the Event Viewer, does that give an error code or 'Faulting Module' file name that might help identify the cause of the crash? - click Start (or WinKey-R), then type "event viewer" into the search box. in Windows 10, 'event' should bring up 'View event logs'. - after starting the Event Viewer, expand 'Windows Logs' in the left column and select 'Application' - in the center column, look for a recent error (maybe sort by Date and Time) for the game - check the information under the 'General' tab below the list of events, starting with "Faulting application name..." Especially if the faulting module name is something graphics related, you can try a clean re-install of the nvidia graphics drivers. See here or here, for example.

Yes All my other directx 11 games work fine. I did what you said. It says this.
Faulting application name: EoCApp.exe, version: 2.0.104.737, time stamp: 0x567ab9f5 Faulting module name: EoCApp.exe, version: 2.0.104.737, time stamp: 0x567ab9f5 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0000000001047e81 Faulting process id: 0x6ec Faulting application start time: 0x01d16c51fdc9c6ea Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\Shipping\EoCApp.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\Shipping\EoCApp.exe Report Id: b9148b02-7eb3-4416-b2fe-1132adf99c2e Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:
The event viewer said the source of the error was the application. Does that mean I should wait for an update? or is there something I can do?

The exception code c0000005 is a memory access violation, but there are a variety of possible causes. If the faulting module name was something else it could narrow down the source of the problem, but unfortunately since it is the game executable, it isn't very helpful. Please email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem (or link to this topic) and the report.zip file (or a Dropbox or Google drive link, etc) generated by the D:OS EE Analysis Tool (for Windows). Extract the zip file somewhere and run AnalysisTool.exe. When that loads, browse to the install folder (if it is not automatically detected), optionally run the tests first, and then generate a report (it will be saved in the same location as the Analysis Tool). The report will contain system and game information, as well as your saved games. To reduce the file size, you can delete all but one of the saves from the zip. Also check the '..\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\Shipping' folder for any CrashDump files, and either add a couple to the report.zip file, or zip them separately.
