Ok, can't play the game because the loading screen simply freezes...everytime before getting to the character creation. I have tried everything I can think of to fix the issue (restarting steam, restarting my machine, uninstalling and re-installing the game entirely) nothing is working.

I am at the end of my rope here...would love for some feedback on any similar or exact issue fixes that might help.

Same issue. Tried everything and still have the same problem. Hopefully Larian has an answer soon, I really want to play the extended edition.

If the game hangs on the loading screen when starting a new game, and you get a 'Network initialization failed' error clicking on Join from the main menu, try resetting your network adapter.

- click Start (or Search in Win 10), type cmd into the search box, right click Command Prompt and select run as administrator.
- type netsh winsock reset and hit Enter
- when that is done, there should be a message 'Winsock reset completed successfully'
- type exit and hit Enter, then reboot your computer.
