Yes, they have completely ruined that dungeon. I finally got to the end, and found four chests of garbage, with not a single item useful to my party. With the new set content chests and containers, I might as well have skipped the entire thing.
I finally managed to figure out that you had to THROW the items on to the pedestal. The heck?!
And as you said the "reward" was not at all worth the aggravation of finding that place at level 4 and fighting your way through the game (and the games UI).
