I have set it open to everyone and it still does not work when my friend tries to join me.

Both my friend and I tried hosting, and both setting were set to Open to Everyone. Sometimes if he invited me to his game and I didn't accept right away, his name would show up under the join menu when It wasn't there before. It still would connection fail if I tried to join that way but just another bit of info to possibly help

My friend and I (who can connect with everyone else, but cannot connect with each other in Divinity and only Divinity) have two different service providers. I have Comcast, my friend has MediaCom.
Note: we can connect using other Xbox's using the same internet sources! We CAN'T connect using the same consoles but with different profiles logged in. We also CAN'T connect when we take the same xbox's to different locations/internet sources.
This narrows down the issue to being only one thing: My XBOX cannot connect to his XBOX and only his XBOX in Divinity, and only in Divinity. Somehow, someway, it's an Xbox to Xbox issue specific to this game. This, needless to say, is extremely strange. What is it about my Xbox (not internet, profile, server, et cetera) doesn't like his, and only his, Xbox for this game, and only this game?
This is also why you cannot repeat this bug in the game-tester setting.
Note: My friend had signed up for, and has been using the new special dashboard for the Xbox One. However, this have not interfered with anything else, and I can connect to another friend who is also using the same dashboard, ruling that out as a possible cause.

I'm actually testing the new November xbox Dashboard. Are the rest of you as well? Or are you still on the original dashboard?

Also submitted this as a bug report to Microsoft and it took diagnostics of my system.

I'm also on the original dashboard. We've both tried hosting with every single Connectivity option, open to all, friends, and invite only, and still just a Connection Failed error each time.

I think Geist may be on to something here.

So yea, I checked out what Geist said and ran the game with my profile and a newer Xbox One. Was able yo connect to games, host games and friend could join me. Seems like it's definitely an Xbox Systems issue. My Xbox is actually first run day one model if that helps still all.

May be tied into something with the xbox ones early framework.

I have an early xbox one, but my friend who has the same exact issues, got one almost exactly a year after release. ( The Assassins Creed Bundle they had last year )

Hello All,
My brother and I just purchased this game yesterday via digital download on xbox live. Both my brother and I bought our xbox's during December of 2013. We also live within a few miles of one another, and both have Time Warner cable.
As you may have figured since I am posting here, we CANNOT connect with each other in this game. Game seems very fun, and interesting. I am extremely bummed out that we can't play together, as that was the main reason we bought the game.
If the early model xbox is the current culprit theory, then I can confirm that with two early model Xbox's this issue is happening.

Both me and my friend got our xbox less than a year ago so I can't say we have an early model.

I'm still holding out hope we get an update here shortly, cause my friend and I really want to play this game. But with this upcoming Tuesday it will have been 2 weeks since game launch. If Larian can't get it together to solve the problem by then, it may be time to head back to the store for a refund....
