Larian Studios Forums Divinity - Original Sin Divinity - Original Sin - Technical Issues My first post and my saves and profiles are gone

So Back in July 2015 i was playing D:OS again after a long time and wanted to start over, after some days i got about 30 or so hrs into the game. Since i was at work i saved in the cloud and on a flash drive to play on my main computer later which i had been doing back and forth alot recently, i was back in the game and it felt good (I was hunting the White Witch).

But as life is iit throws unexpected curve balls at you when you least expect it so i don`t get to play later as i planned and that ends up me not picking the game up again until today (02.11.2015). I boot the game up again on my main computer and when im in the load list...EVERY save except the first few from the start of the game was completely gone. I went into my save game folder (My Documents < Larian Studios < PlayerProfiles < My Player Profile Name) and the saves themselves were there but the game cant see them at all. I tried making a new dummy profile and make a quick save, go back out, copy over the save file from my flash drive into the dummy profile to see if it can see the save now (i've heard that that works), but no...i cant see it on the list, i guess i need to start all over yet again, because this isnt the first time that this has happend, but the first time i didnt pay any mind to since i was not that far into the game and i was about to restart anyway.

You guys need to look into this cause im at a loss and have no clue what to do anymore, im not sure if i can take yet another restart "/

They just upgraded to the Enhanced Edition very recently. Old save games and profiles will not work or show up in the Enhanced Edition. I'd recommend starting over anyway, there are a lot of changes from the beginning in the Enhanced Edition.

well yeah, but still tho...after putting over 40 hrs into the vanilla game and losing your save files....that's a big pill to swallow "/

Do you still have the flash drive you were using to transfer saves, and could it still have the saves from the last time you did so?

Could you have a backup of your My Documents folder where you may be able to recover some saves?

If you download the Save Game Editor, can that read the saves in your My Documents folder, or does it give an error trying to read them?

Kinda left the issue dead in the water.

Since we all got the enchanced edition i just moved on and started over, not sure if i have the saves from D:OS anymore.

So yeah, i admitted defeat and moved on
